Anushka's glamorous avatar in Singam Movie

Be it a bikini or traditional wear, Anushka always sizzles. With her performance in Arundhati (where she practically carried the entire film on her shoulders), this talented actress proved she is not just a pretty face. In Billa, she proved she could look glam and yet mean business. After the success of Arundhati in Tamil (dubbed version), Kollywood has witnessed a meteoric rise in demand for Anushka Shetty’s flicks in Tamil.
And this time, in Singam, directed by Hari, she displays both avatars with glamorous costumes in the song sequences and a homely look in the rest of the film. Anushka's glamorous avatar in 'En Idhayam' and 'She Stole My Heart' has been sending heat waves across theatres.
According to sources close to the unit, “The Censor Board felt that though the oomph has been shown decently, it might upset audiences. So they suggested we mask two scenes in the songs. Had we not masked them, the film would have got an 'A' certificate. Now, the film is doing well in theatres with a U/A certificate.”

Vijay to do Rajini role in Naan Sigappu Manithan remake

“Ella Pugazhum Oruvan Oruvanukke… Nee Nadhi Pole Odi Kondu Iru…” was the opening line of a hit number from a super hit of Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay. And Vijay is serious about nothing but his work. He is returning with a bang by releasing three films in a year.
The surprise doesn’t end there. While speaking at a function in Trichy to release the audio the film 'Veluthu Kattu' director and father of Vijay SA Chandrashekar said that he is going to remake some of his old hits with the new generation of stars and technicians.
His first in the series will be the remake of 'Naan Sigappu Manithan' starring Rajinikanth, K. Bhagyaraj and Ambika. The film was super hit in the 80s. It was vendetta tale in which the hero a self-styled vigilante and goes after the bad guys after he loses his sister and mother to the villains.
And you guessed it right. SAC is planning to cast Vijay in the role of Rajini.

Madhavan joins Kamal once again in Manmadhan Ambu

Madhavan, who is acting for the second time with Kamal Haasan (the first time was for 'Anbe Sivam'), for a film tentatively titled 'Manmadhan Ambu', is all smiles about bagging the offer.
"I must be blessed to get yet another opportunity to work with a legend like Kamal. Whatever I have learnt of acting is from him. I am indebted to Kamal sir a lot," says the actor.
Throwing light on the film, to be directed by K S Ravikumar and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin, he says, "The film, a love triangle, will be shot in exotic European locations. We are going to have a blast."
On sharing the screen space with Trisha again, Madhavan, who was there in the actress's debut movie 'Lesa Lesa', says, "Trisha has travelled a long way. She’s a stunner and she’s the ultimate wild spirit. I am delighted to work with her again."

Raavanan countdown stars

We are starting the countdown to the eagerly awaited movie of the year Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan in Tamil.
The film is a tri-lingual in Hindi (Raavan) and Telugu (Villain). It is being marketed by Reliance Big Pictures and is scheduled to release worldwide in all three languages on June 18.
Raavanan features Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Prithviraj in the lead along with Karthik, Prabhu and Priyamani in supporting roles. The music of AR Rahman is already a hit. The film is now being graded for colour correction in Adlabs in Mumbai by its cinematographer Santosh Sivan.
The tri-lingual is the most ambitious project of Mani Ratnam. In his director’s note, Mani Ratnam asks the question- Ten heads, Ten minds, A hundred voices- One Man. Did such a man ever exist…? Was he just a myth…or a metaphor…?
Are Ten Heads better than one…?
Is there a Ram inside Raavan ? And a Raavan inside each of us?
This along with its slick three minutes trailer has created a big buzz around the film. The audio launch of the film was done in style by Ratnam, which made the hype bigger as expectations have reached an all new high.
Well you will have to wait 18 days more for the big day when all three versions of the film will hit 2000 odd screens worldwide. We at newstamilcinema , will be updating you on the biggest release in Indian cinema.

Lekha Washington attempts suicide

Lekha Washington is optimistic that she could make it to the big league once the Pushkar-Gayathri directed film 'Quarter Cutting' hits the screens. The VJ turned actress says she is playing a role with a difference in the movie.
"I play a 19-year-old girl studying Plus Two, who attempts suicide. While trying to kill self, the girl meets some people who change her life. The entire story happens in a single night", according to Lekha.
Claiming that the movie would be a new experience to the audience, the young actress says, "My thanks to Pushkar-Gayathri for roping in me for the role. They are very friendly and working with them is so wonderful."
Saying that she would do another film with the director duo, Lekha adds: "The movie has been tentatively titled ‘Raakozhi’. Besides, I am there in a Kannada film directed by Lankesh, which has Sameer in the lead role."

Selvaraghavan once again to direct historical film

This film pertains to the 5th century era. Rama Naidu is producing this film under the banner Suresh Productions. Telugu actor Raana will do the lead role. The female lead role is yet to be finalized.

The shooting of this film is to take place in dense forests. Steps are being taken to finish the film at a short span of time.
The production house feels that this film should not face the fate of Aayirathil Oruvan. Selvaraghavan says that this film will be an important on his film journey.

Kamal- Trisha project shooting starts

Kamal Haasan is doing the lead role in the film directed by K S Ravi Kumar and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin. Trisha is pairing with Kamal Haasan in this film. Madhavan and Sangeetha are doing the key roles in this film.

The shooting of this film is to commence on the first week of June. The film is yet to be titled. Devi Sriprasad is composing the music. Recently a song was recorded for this film. The song which was poetic was sung by Kamal Haasan, school children and Trisha.
This song will not be a whole song. But it will be on the back ground for some of the scenes. It is also important to mention that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has penned one song for this film. The film will be a full length comedy entertainer.

Solai Raja: Nothing special in Tamanna

It was surprising that when a producer commented openly in press meet. Solai Raja is the person who had directed more than 7000 episodes in the small screen is producing and directing the film titled Neeyum Naanum.

During the press meet of this film, he said that the heroine of his film is more beautiful than Thamanna who is number one. He added,” When an ordinary actress like Thamanna can be number one, why can’t my heroine number one?” When asked that whether Thamanna refused her call sheet when asked for, he said,” It is not like that.
Instead of paying the salary she demands, I can introduce four new faces for that. Tamil cinema is popularizing Thamanna because actresses like Nayanthara, Trisha and Asin have gone to other languages. Apart from there is nothing special about her.”

Sonam Kapoor says no to Mani Ratnam

Is it true?? But that’s what our birdies are chirping about excitedly! They have heard that Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor who is just two films old, had the audacity to turn down an offer from Mani Ratnam.

The story goes like… Mani Ratnam is to bring up a project titled ‘Paki’, which will be a directorial debut of his former assistant Shiva. The script is written by Mani himself, while Vivek Oberoi has been signed on for the lead.

And it was for this film Mani had approached Sonam. Now the ‘thumbs down’ sign given by the actress seem to have taken all by surprise, especially when the man behind the venture is such a high-profile director who has given some of the remarkable films in Indian cinema.

When the actresses are dreaming of an offer from Mani Ratnam what would have made Sonam Kapoor to say no is a big question. Does anybody know the reason?

Angadi Theru Anjali doing Glamour role in Maharaja

Anjali, who impressed everyone playing performance oriented roles in 'Kattradhu Thamizh' and 'Angadi Theru', goes the glamour way. She recently appeared for a song in 'Maharaja' opposite Sathya in skimpy costumes.

Produced by J Ravi and directed by D Manoharan, the movie features Nasser, Anitha, M S Viswanathan, Saranya and Karunaas in key roles.

Says Anjali: "I am happy and thrilled with the success of ‘Angadi Theru’. ‘Maharaja’ will showcase me in different light. I have tried comedy in the movie."

On taking to glamour, she says, "It is a part of the story and I did what the script wanted". Interestingly, Anitha who entered the tinsel town with 'Samurai' opposite Vikram is now geared up for her next innings with this movie. 'Maharaja' will have Anitha shaking legs with Nasser for an item dance.

Vijay's new plan for his Kavalkaran movie

Vijay was the only person shocked after seeing that the trailer of his film Sura was lifted after the 13th day of the release of the film. Sura’s trailer was replaced by Singam trailer.

The film was taken out of the theatres on the 25th day of its release. Vijay who had the knack of making his film run for 100 days in spite of its failures was not able to do this time, though he held the Chennai city rights.

Hence, Vijay has purchased the film Kavalkaran outright. The reason for this that he didn’t want the Sun Pictures to acquire the rights and the second thing is that he wanted to set right the losses incurred by the distributors by releasing Sura. He has planned to act in a film and give the distributors at a low price.

Soundarya plans to release Sultan–The Warrior after Endhiran

Rajinikanth’s fans started to wonder what happened to Sultan – The Warrior, the animation film that is being directed and produced by his daughter Soundarya. Enquiries in Kollywood revealed that Soundarya plans to release Sultan only after Endhiran hits the screens.

According to trade pundits, this could have a positive impact on Sultan because Endhiran is being produced by Sun Pictures and will get maximum publicity. This in turn would have the cash registers ringing for Sultan.

Considering the business motives of Soundarya and timing her release accordingly, there is a strong speculation that her animation film could turn out to be a hit.

The Theatre Owners Association against Vijay

The Theatre Owners Association today threatened to boycott movies starring Vijay in future, if he (Vijay) failed to compensate them for the huge losses they suffered after screening his recent release 'Sura'.

Addressing media persons in Chennai, Panneerselvam, a top office bearer of the association said, "the continued poor performance of films starring Vijay and the hardship and financial losses faced by exhibitors and theatre-owners forced us to convene an emergency meeting."

"We purchased ‘Sura’ for a huge price. But its not-so impressive performance meant a loss of over 60 per cent for us," he said and added, "We tried approach the actor to provide us compensation. But he could not be reached".

Stating that there have been instances in the past when actors and producers have shared (our) losses by giving compensation, Pannerselvam said "We wish Vijay understands our difficulties and helps us out."

"After working out a formula, we have now asked him to provide us 35 per cent of losses as compensation. If it is not met with, we would be left with no other option but not to cooperate with him when his films are released in future". The combined loss in last five flop shows of Vijay was Rs 30 crore, he added.

Movie Review: Singam

Movie : Singam
Production: Sun Pictures, Big Pictures and Studio Green Productions
Direction: Hari
Star-casts: Surya, Anushka, Prakash Raj, Vivek, Radha Ravi, Nizhalgal Ravi, Bose Venkat and many others

First things first, you guys must watch ‘Singam’, even if you aren’t an ardent buff of Surya or Hari. The reason is that it has got all the specified elements that define a top-class entertainment catering to the tastes of all cohorts.

A hunky cop bashing down roughnecks single-handed, tripping legs with his ladylove, finest challenges tackled between good and baddie is all what it makes ‘Singam’ – a stunning film.

The film centers on Durai Singam (Surya), a sincere cop, who joins the service for his father’s (Radha Ravi) request. It doesn’t mean a great job to him as he wants to be a part of his dad’s business, i.e. provision stores. But he keeps settling down each and every dispute in town by his good means as he perceives everyone to be his close relatives. Then comes cute, zippy girl Kavya (Anushka) for vacation in Nalloore and falls in love with Durai Singam for his specialties. But things take a different turn in the tale with the entry of deadly ruffian Mayil Vaaganam (Prakash Raj), who runs kidnap racketing. When, he’s out on a conditional bail to report everyday at Nalloore police station, he avoids by taking things for granted by sending his fellowmen. Honesty takes its possession, when Durai Singam orders Mayil to be at station within couple of hours or else threatens him to be barged behind bars.

Here starts the speculative situation as Singam is transferred on promotion to Chennai, but Mayil Vaaganam personally recommends him to be posted at Thiruvanmiyur Police Station patently for settling scores.

What follows next is a series of cat and mouse game that makes you move towards edge of seats.

Surya himself acts as the biggest brand to sell the film and on pars is Hari’s stunning screenplay. Not even a single moment you would feel so restless and annoyed just as it happened with some of the previous commercial films. Anushka has more to do with this film unlike her previous shows, in which she was precisely utilized for glamorous factors. Vivek’s comedy is quite okay, but not to the expected levels. Prakash Raj’s sleepwalking through the same baddie role doesn’t make us irksome rather electrifies the script.

You’ll keep counting what’s gonna happen next and further for every 5 minutes as you wouldn’t feel that 2.5 hours as already passed by end of show.

Devi Sri Prasad’s musical score is an added value while cinematography and editing adds more momentum to this racy screenplay.

On the whole, the producers can keep themselves ahead on cloud nine as the film is sure to cross 100 days with houseful shows across many centres.

Hats off to director Hari and we expect the sort of show with his upcoming films as well.

Verdict: A Must watch

Prabhu Deva: I can’t leave Nayanthara

A Tamil newspaper has come out with an article that claims that Prabhu Deva had told mediators from Kollywood who were trying to save his marriage with Ramlath, that he can’t leave Nayanthara. The reason he says is that Nayan is suicidal.

The relationship between the two had initially stirred a hornet’s nest in the industry. But as days went by Prabhu and Nayan became closer and were no longer hiding their relationship and in fact flaunting it.

Now Ramlath who at one time in an interview had said that she would like to slap Nayan, is a worried woman.

Nayanthara on the other hand is cool as cucumber and has almost settled down happily to her surroundings. She has not signed any new films and if all goes well would legalise her relationship with Prabhu by early next year.

The biggest Tamil movie Singam released

Meanwhile Singam is going for a big release in 16 city screens, 4 of them in Mount Road area alone. At Mayajaal the film has been given a record 45 shows per day. The Suriya-Anushka starrer is sure to take a gigantic opening.

Nayanthara: Why should I worry when I am honest

Nayanthara is neither bothered nor irked about controversies doing rounds on her professional and personal lives. "Why should I worry when I am honest?" she asks.

"I have no regrets as I have always been honest and sincere in my work and life. And I understand that an actress have to come across such things," says the Mollywood girl.

Ask her about her future plans, Nayanthara says she is not planning anything big as such. "Ten years from now, I see myself playing homemaker and mom in real life," she says.

On playing Electra Alexander, her character in Shyamaprasad's Malayalam film Electra, Nayan says, "It is a complex character driven by love and loyalty. Such challenging roles are hard to come by in Indian cinema, especially for an actress."

Sasi Kumar to direct Sridevi's daughter

Sasi Kumar became popular by directing and acting in Subramaniapuram. Sasi Kumar also did the lead role in the hit film Nadodigal. Recently the yester year popular actress Sridevi called upon Sasi Kumar and invited him for a dinner at her Mumbai’s residence.

Sasi Kumar who had accepted this invitation went to Mumbai. Sridevi and her husband Bony Kapoor welcomed him and gave him a treat. They also appreciated his action in Subramaniapuram and Nadodigal. Later on Sridevi introduced her daughter Jaanavi to Sasi Kumar.

She requested him to introduce her as a heroine in his next Tamil film. Sasi Kumar agreed for this. Earlier there was news that Sridevi wanted her daughter to pair with Nagarjuna’s son Akil in a Telugu film but now she has changed her mind and wanted her to be introduced in a Tamil film.

Karthi celebrating his birthday today

Karthi Sivakumar, the rough and tough hero of Paruthi Veeran, is celebrating his birthday today. Greatly inspired by his father Sivakumar and brother Suriya, Karthi stepped into filmdom after a brief stint as assistant to Mani Ratnam in Ayudha Ezhuthu.

After graduating from New York State University in Industrial Engineering, Karthi's career began as a consultant in an engineering firm in Chennai. Soon, he grew tired of the job and joined director Mani Ratnam's crew.

Ameer's Paruthi Veeran script greatly impressed Karthi. He understood the hard work he had to put in for the role; liking the challenge and adventure involved, he took up the offer. His performance in Paruthi Veeran has received wide appreciation.

More than two years after his debut in Paruthi Veeran, Karthi's next release was Aayirathil Oruvan. Though the movie received mixed responses, there is no doubt his performance in the movie was stupendous and the movie is an important chapter in Tamil cinema. Then came Paiyya, a complete image makeover for the handsome hunk, from an uncouth rural youth in Paruthi Veeran to the utterly sophisticated software professional in Paiyya.

The actor's upcoming projects include Naan Mahan Alla directed by Suseendran, followed by Vada Chennai directed by Vettrimaran. The buzz is that the handsome actor will play the role of a good fisherman who unwittingly falls in the trap of a mafia gang. As usual, this Vettrimaran flick will be set in the bylanes of Chennai with a realistic touch. Karthi will also star in the Tamil remake of the Telugu hit Vikramarkudu.

Kanagavel Kakka movie Review

Cast: Karan, Hari Priya, Kotta Srinivasa Rao, Raj Kapoor, Aditya

Music: Vijay Anthony

Producer: Saravanan

Director: Kavin Bala
The revenging son Politician Kotta Srinivasa Rao kills a government official with a lorry. The wife of the officer approaches Judge Avinash to complaint about this atrocity. Avinash decides to take up the case by becoming a lawyer. But Kotta Srinivasa Rao who comes to know about this burns Avinash’s wife and daughter.

Avinash’s son Karan decides to avenge Kotta Srinivasa Rao who destroys his family. Not only this, he also finishes the VIPs who make the innocent people the scapegoat. The police spread their net to nab him. Whether Karan is trapped is the climax of this film. This film is 100001th film that is based on revenge.

Director Kavin Bala has added sensation to the scenes. In the opening scene Karan points out the gun to kill Kotta Srinivasa Rao. We are able to anticipate that there is a flash back later on.Karan who kills people by fooling the police is shown as a person who calls out the names of the accused in the Court. This is something new. Karan excels when he challenges the police by saying that they will not be able to catch him.

There are fewer chances for heroine Hari Priya in this film. Avinash dons the role of a strict Judge while Kotta Srinivasa Rao plays the usual villain role. Aditya who plays a good cop tries to break his villain image. Sampath Raj and Raj Kapoor have donned the usual villain role. There is a great thrill in the chasing scene where Karan tries to escape from the police. The scene is really exhilarating when Karan comes in disguise to kill Kotta Srinivasa Rao in the caravan and police which scents this are after him.

But the romantic scenes are the speed breaker for the racy screenplay. Hari Priya’s one side love for Karan and suddenly becoming a traitor are all lousyIt is very cinematic by reducing the punishment of Karan who had committed five murders by citing unsubstantial things. After the climax there is another climax. There is a lot of confusion that who is hitting who. This scene could have avoided. Vijay Antony’s music composition for the songs is worth hearing.

Tamanna joins super star Mohanlal

In spite of receiving a lot of offers from neighbouring Malayalam film industry, Tamannah Bhatia didn’t have space in her diary to allot dates for any of the movies. But now she’s got one irresistible offer of working with super star Mohanlal.

Tamannah will work with Mohanlal for a movie with director Anil and produced by Thomas Sebastian. Though other members of the crew haven’t been decided yet, Jayanan Vincent is said to be the cinematographer.

Tamannah has her share of blockbusters in Telugu and Tamil. Her ‘Happy Days’ is a blockbuster in Telugu and now her ‘Paiyaa’ in Tamil is a blockbuster with the cash registers simply counting in. With the entry in to Mollywood, Sandalwood is one venue that is left in the south and soon it will be conquered by Tamannah.

Theatre owners ask pay up from Vijay for Sura flop

Tamil Nadu theatre owners and distributors have convened an emergency meeting on May 22 in Chennai and unanimously decided to demand Kollywood's Ilayathalapathi Vijay to refund a portion of the money they put up for his 50th film Sura, which bombed at the box office.

Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association secretary Rohini Paneerselvam said: "We want him to refund at least 40% of the money we put up as minimum guarantee (MG). We had paid a huge amount banking on Vijay's reputation and the hype surrounding his 50th film, but collections were not good."

The association will formally meet Vijay on Wednesday with its primary agenda of asking him to follow the footsteps of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan and compensate them. Notably, Rajjnikanth refunded the money to theatre owners when his Baaba and Kuselan bombed, while Kamal set right the losses incurred over Hey Ram and Mumbai Express.

Paneerselvam said that nearly 240 theatres in the state took Sura at highly competitive rates with 195 of them paying close to Rs. 40 crore as MG. "If the film had collected Rs. 5 lakh in each theatre in the first few days, it would have been comfortable for all. However, it failed to fetch beyond Rs 2.5 lakh even after a week. Theatre owners have no choice but to pay up the MG and suffer losses," said a theatre owner.

Hari speaks about Singam Movie

Singam image Gallery

After Sevval, director Hari is back with Singam starring Suriya and Anushka in lead roles. Suriya's success spree is likely to continue with Hari-directed Singam. The duo is hoping for a hat trick after Aaru and Vel. Suriya dons the role of a police officer after Kaakha Kaakha and Hari directs this police story after Saamy.

So will Singam live up to public expectations? “Yes, it will be an adorable cop film. But Suriya’s role in this film will not be like cop roles in his other films. In fact, my biggest challenge was to ensure that his role does not remind one of his earlier cop characters,” Hari said to a leading English daily.

“Suriya’s performance is the highlight of this film. He performed all the stunts and did not opt for body doubles. Anushka plays a modern college girl who has traditional beliefs. Prakashraj plays the villain; I firmly believed that no one else could do this character as well as he could,” he revealed.

“We shot at several places including Tuticorin and it being a small town, people would gather the minute they knew Suriya was shooting. So, we had to shoot discreetly and swiftly. Moreover, we did not use sets. We had shot a sequence in a village near Tuticorin and we had to make it look like it had been shot in AP. The villagers allowed us to make all the changes we needed to their homes. We were really touched by their gesture,” he added.

So get ready for some action on May 28, 2010!

Aamir Khan starts web blog for online fitness club

A group on Facebook says: Affiliation: Actor, Location: Mumbai, India, Birthday: March 14, 1965. Just below, you see the number of people who like this page, and it is an astonishing 248,170 people. But then again, the picture on the page make matters more plausible. It's Aamir Khan's Facebook page after all. The man has now planned an online health club on his blog and Facebook page where he would keep one and all updated about his health and fitness regimen while he answers questions about films and gives diet suggestions. Well, it was regular Facebook page but turned into a "let's get fit" one, thanks to Aamir's fans and his own need to get into shape.

On May 15, 2010 Aamir posted the following message on his page: "Visited my dietician today. You don't want to know what he said to me. I certainly don't want anyone to know. I really need to get back into shape. Enough partying and revelling in the success of 3I. So Monday onwards back to my diet and workout. Support guys, I need your support and encouragement." And in came hundreds of messages of love and encouragement that eventually inspired a joint effort towards looking good and feeling healthy. The motivated Aamir finally wrote, "Ok this fun. Many of you want to know how we can do this. I can't post more than a certain number of characters here So for those of you who want to join me, in the next 20 mins I will post a plan on my site www.aamirkhan.com, check it out and really go for it. It will be great motivation for me too."

Since then, Aamir has been blogging about health tips, diet routines and dos & don'ts when it comes to all things fit and fine. To say he has a following on the battle of the bulge is an understatement. On May 16, Aamir wrote a blog which can easily go down as a step-by-step guide to getting fit for the beginners. He started out by advising his fans on how to take the first and most important step towards weight loss. He blogged:

"First things first. Let me share with you what I learnt in the last few years in the process of building a physique, losing weight etc.

3 things are most important, and in that order:

1. A healthy and balanced diet.

2. Exercise.

3. Rest.

Actually exercise and rest are equally important, but the most important is a healthy and balanced diet."

He went on to explain the mantra to a balanced diet. It's easy to see his passion that ranges from film to well, almost everything he does. Like every other celebrity, he didn't go about giving gyaan on what to do but even warned the members of this newly founded club that can be easily called as "Aamir's fitness club", of the fad diets that one is usually put under. To quote him, "the best way to get a healthy and balanced diet for yourself is to visit a qualified dietician. Not the dieticians who put you onto new fad diets, like high protein diets, low carb diets, blood group diets, don't eat carbs at night diets, Atkins diet, Santa Barbara diets, 'have this pill' diet, 'eat only 'this' one day and 'that' on another day' diet, falana diet, dhamka diet, etc."

So geared up was Aamir that he readily wanted to go into action. He motivated all his fans with his fitness funda and ended the blog of the day with an action plan. "lets make a group who decides to live healthy. Anyone who wants to join can. Each one of us is responsible for figuring out a diet for ourselves, a workout/sport/walking schedule, and a rest schedule.

You decide what is good for you. And stick to it. And every night on fb I post how I fared that day and in response you comment on my post. That way all the comments are tagged together to my post in one space, and so it will be easier for all of us to stay together on this one topic. If one of us is finding it tough the others can encourage.

I start Monday!"

Well! For all of you who are tired of those celebrity fitness DVDs and gyaan in books, here's the real deal. A club by the celebrity who not just gives you unlimited literature on fitness but talks about his own routine and lip ups. And the best part being he encourages you at every go.

In the Hindi version of Raavanan, Abhishek Bachchan is in the lead role while Vikram dons the role of Aishwarya’s husband. When asked Abhishek about Vikram, he said,” I am a great fan of Vikram. I was astounded after seeing his action in Pithamaghan.

For the first time I met Vikram during the audio launch of Shankar’s Boys. At that time, the shooting of Yuva was going on. I told him that I have seen his film Dhool for 17 times. He laughed surprisingly. We became very closer after that.

Whenever I come to Chennai we both use to meet regularly and speak about cinema and acting. It was a sweet shock when Manirathnam told me that Vikram has agreed to work in Raavan. It was a pleasurable experience working with him.”

Poonam Bajwa speaks about her role in Droghi

Poonam Bajwa has completed Droghi and is waiting for one song to be completed in Thambikkottai. Poonam Bajwa while speaking to the media said,” Srikanth, Vishnu, Poorna and me who are acting in this film will don different kind of characters and looks.

My role will be an amalgamation of glamour and homely. They cannot be separated. It was very tough for me to bring out my role in screen. I have acted in a character which has very much depth. Director Sudha gave us the script some 6 months back itself before the shooting could start.

She had also indicated that how we should act in a scene. Because of this nobody went for the third take. This is the first time I am working with a woman director. Because of this there was lot of understanding between us. Since Poorna is also acting in this film, many are asking who among us is doing the important role.
Everybody in this film has been given importance. At the same time our characters will be opposite. In Thambikkottai I am donning the role of a village girl. This film has all the commercial ingredients like action and sentiment. 90 % of the shooting of the film has been completed. Only one song is remaining to be shot.”

Siddique: New Vijay in Kaavalkaran

“Unlike Vijay’s recent films, there won’t be any hero introduction song in my flick. You will see a new Vijay in this film; he’ll leave a lasting impression on the minds of audiences with his romantic image. The film is a love story but told in a different way,” director Siddique said to a leading English daily.

Kaavalkaran is the remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard starring Dileep and Nayantara. Siddique (of Friends fame), who directed the original, is also directing the Tamil version. Bodyguard has a plot with plenty of comedy and action. The film also brings back Asin to Kollywood after a gap.

“I will also be directing the Hindi version of Bodyguard with Salman Khan in the lead and his company is also producing it,” the director revealed.

Trisha will play Vinnaithandi Varuvaya Hindi also as Jessie

Trisha's graph in Bollywood is on upward swing. The pretty actress will debut in Bollywood with 'Khatta Meetha' opposite Akshay Kumar. She was particular about her debut and did not accept any other film in Hindi until she completes ‘Khatta Meetha’. Now that the film is almost over and Trisha has accepted her next big offer.

We knew Gautham Menon will be directing block buster 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' in Hindi and was looking for the right producer. Many top Bollywood producers from Rakesh Roshan, Balaji to Vashu Bhagnani were trying to buy the Hindi remake rights of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya'.

But the rights have now gone to the biggest bidder - Ambika Hinduja's Serendipity Films that recently produced ‘Teen Patti' starring Ben Kingsley and Amitabh Bachchan.

The cast has not been decided though Prateik Babbar is being considered to play Silambarasan’s role and Trisha will play ‘Jessie’ in Hindi also.

Gautham wants to use the same tunes of A R Rahman for Hindi as well but the BGM will be reworked again for Hindi as the story is set to happen in Goa instead of Kerala.

Gautham Menon, who had earlier directed the Madhavan-Dia Mirza-Saif starrer, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, was going slowly on his Hindi offers. He even refused to direct ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ in Hindi which is now being directed by Nishikant Kamath.

Director Kiccha has also penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for the film.

Parvathy is crazy about films

After a sabbatical, tall and beautiful Parvathy Omanakuttan (Femina Miss India World in 2008 and the first runner-up at the Miss World 2008 competition) is back in the news!
After making her filmi debut with United Six and Madan Kolli, the beauty queen is all set to step into Kollywood with Malayalam director Nithin Ramakrishnan's debut Tamil venture Uma Maheswaram, starring newcomer Mani and Prakashraj in important roles.
Talking about her move into Tamil films, Parvathy said: "There was a misconception that I'm not keen on a career as an actress. But I’m crazy about films!" She said this Tamil film is a dance-based subject of two cultures and how a dancer from Hampi falls in love with a Bharatanatyam dancer from Chidambaram.
"My character (Uma) is deaf and dumb, but she has a mission in life. The story is beautifully structured and my character is the pivot around which the film revolves. There is some sensuality in the film which I’m sure Nithin will handle aesthetically. The film has the A-team of Kollywood including noted cinematographer Madhu Ambat and editor V.T. Vijayan," she added.
