Lekha Washington feels happy

Guess who is going to be the heroine of popular Bollywood filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming venture(s)? If everything goes as expected, she is none other than Lekha Washington.

If reports are to be believed, the petite beauty, who started her career as a television anchor and later switched over to acting with ‘Jayam Kondaan’, has been signed by the top filmmaker recently.

And that too not for just one project, but three in a row. “Lekha has signed a three-film deal with Rajkumar Santoshi. She is extremely happy about the offer as she is aware of Santoshi’s impact in Bollywood”, sources say.

Lekha, who stepped into Bollywood with ‘Peter Gaya Kaam Se’ opposite Rajeev Khandelwal, is expecting the release of ‘Va- Quarter Cutting’ in Kollywood. “It is a role with a difference”, she says.

Lekha Washington role in Va – Quarter Cutting movie

Lekha Washington was not seen in the Kollywood circuit after Jayamkondan. Enquiries revealed that actress was flooded with sister roles after starring in that film and hence decided not to don such roles in Kollywood. However, she shifted base to Bollywood and will soon be seen sharing the screen space with Amitabh Bachchan apart from a few other films.

The wait in Kollywood has also turned fruitful as Lekha is the main protagonist in Va – Quarter Cutting. Speaking about her role in this film, Lekha says that she plays a 19-year-old with suicidal intentions.

Lekha Washington's dreames

Lekha Washington is getting younger day by day, so to say. The VJ turned actress, who played Vinay’s younger sister in ‘Jayam Kondaan’, will now play a 19-year-old girl in ‘Quarter Cutting’, a film directed by Pushkar-Gayathri of ‘Oram Po’ fame.
On the film, she says, “It is an out and out fun movie which revolves around three characters- Shiva, Charan and me. Directors Pushkar and Gayathri have crafted a rollicking script which has loads of laughter.”
Saying she is no more interested in compering TV shows, Lekha says, “My dreams are big. People may not take me seriously if I go back to television anchoring. I want to make it big as an actress in films.”

Lekha Washington speaks about Bollywood debut

Lekha Washington was quite the witty and whacko [in a good way, of course] VJ on SS Music, and when she decided to take the cine plunge, expectations were quite high. The former IPL anchor is currently shooting in the Andamans for her Bollywood debut Peter Gaya Kaam Se opposite Rajeev Khandelwal.
Lekha also has a Telugu film opposite Allu Arjun and Manoj Manchu, and two Tamil films in her kitty. “My Telugu film, Vedam, is a prestigious project, which we’ve nearly completed with just one song sequence pending. I’m also currently shooting for the Tamil film Quarter Cutting,” the actress said.
“I did the IPL as I wanted attention in Mumbai. It’s quite a challenge for an actress from the South to break into Bollywood, and I’m quite enjoying myself now that I’ve managed to do it,” she added. There are also reports that the pretty lass will star opposite Golden Star Ganesh in an upcoming Kannada flick Thunta Thunti directed by Indrajit Lankesh.
