Trisha speaks to the media
Trisha has walked out of the Telugu film which has Ravi Teja in the lead role. Trisha while speaking to the media said,” I had given call sheet to act in Ravi Teja film during the month of February and March.
They have not commenced the shooting. Now they are suddenly asking me call sheet for the month of April. I have already allotted days for the Hindi film in which I am acting with Akshay Kumar and also for a Tamil film in which I am pairing with Kamal Haasan.
That is why I had to quit Ravi Teja film. Tamil and Telugu films had brought me name and fame. I will never forget this. I will always continue to act in Tamil and Telugu films. I will also act in Hindi films.
Lekha Washington speaks about Bollywood debut
Lekha Washington was quite the witty and whacko [in a good way, of course] VJ on SS Music, and when she decided to take the cine plunge, expectations were quite high. The former IPL anchor is currently shooting in the Andamans for her Bollywood debut Peter Gaya Kaam Se opposite Rajeev Khandelwal.
Lekha also has a Telugu film opposite Allu Arjun and Manoj Manchu, and two Tamil films in her kitty. “My Telugu film, Vedam, is a prestigious project, which we’ve nearly completed with just one song sequence pending. I’m also currently shooting for the Tamil film Quarter Cutting,” the actress said.
“I did the IPL as I wanted attention in Mumbai. It’s quite a challenge for an actress from the South to break into Bollywood, and I’m quite enjoying myself now that I’ve managed to do it,” she added. There are also reports that the pretty lass will star opposite Golden Star Ganesh in an upcoming Kannada flick Thunta Thunti directed by Indrajit Lankesh.
Arya making his debut villain in Allu Arjun
It is Arya’s big day as he is making his debut as villain in Allu Arjun’s Telugu film Varudu directed by hit maker Gunasekhar. If the film, releasing today, clicks Arya will have a new market in Tollywood.
The market buzz is that Arya was paid 2 crores to play the bad guy. The producers were forced to cough up the amount as Arya is a top Kollywood hero. But Arya says:” I took up the villain role because it has equal footage to that of the hero’s character and it looks interesting.”Varudu is releasing big worldwide including four screens in Chennai. Adding to the suspense the actress who is playing heroine has been kept a closely guarded secret.
No photograph of her has been released to the media and her name has been kept under the wraps.

Nayanthara tastes success
Although she’s only on and off seen in Tamil movies, Nayan seems to have hit the jackpot in three languages. Her movies in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu – Aadhavan, Bodyguard and Adoor – were declared superhits putting her slumping career graph somewhat straight. Nayan is on cloud nine and is seen visibly expressing her happiness in a tabloid interview recently. “I had a positive feeling about these movies when they were being made and thankfully all of them performed well at the box office,” she was quoted as saying.
For an inevitable question about her wedding, Nayan was non-committal. “I have no answer to this question. I will cross the bridge when it comes and even if it’s a love marriage, it will only happen with the consent of my brother and my parents,” she added. Nayan will be seen with Arya in the Tamil flick Boss Engira Baskaran up next

Vadivelu's son Subramani enters Kollywood
Vadivelu is the famous and top comedy actor in Tamil film industry. His son Subramani is aged 23 years. He who had completed his Plus 2 is now currently studying computer and animation course.
Many directors are planning to cast him as a hero in a film. But Vadivelu did not permit this. He was telling that his son can act at the appropriate time. Now Vadivelu has mentioned that the time has come and has decided to introduce his son as a hero. Vadivelu is currently listening to stories from various directors to make his son as a hero. So he is waiting for a good story. Vadivelu while speaking to the media about this said,” My son Subramani has an interest to act in films. I am in search of a story which would be suitable for him. I am listening to stories from three directors. I think that one of these stories would be suitable for him. Instead of being a comedian like me, he will be introduced as a hero in a film which has acting, comedy, romance and action. I am handing over my son to the people of Tamil Nadu. They will take care of him.
Now I am busy running forward. Let him chase me and catch me. I am really proud that I am handing over my son to the people of Tamil Nadu when my market is good.”

Paiya Friday release
If you are planning to have a blast this weekend, you can reserve ‘Paiyaa’ tickets from this morning, for plans for the Lingusamy’s film will be open at cinema halls all over Tamil Nadu from today.
A whopping number of 18 theatres will release the Karthi-Tamannah starrer this Friday in Chennai alone. Remember we are talking about cinema halls in mainland and not about those in the suburbs.
Interestingly, Mayajal will screen 40 shows a day, a first-of-its kind patronage for a film starring an up and coming actor like Karthi in the lead. All other theatres will have extra shows in the releasing weekend, and at least four shows a day after that.
“This shows the expectations the movie has created. It’s all because of two persons- Lingusamy the director and Dhayanidhi Alagiri, who had acquired the release rights of the movie,” says a source in the distribution business.

Music Review: Sura
Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay’s 50th movie ‘Sura’ has music scored by Mani Sharma, the man who is supposedly busy with Telugu and Tamil projects. Perhaps being busy, has left him with little time that he has used the tunes of the best of his Telugu hits in this album.
The music will be a delight to the fans of Vijay with a few mass numbers that might excite them and imagining Vijay dancing to the tunes, it will be a visual treat at the theatres.
Mani Sharma has used four lyricists that include veteran Vaali, Na. Muthukumar, Kabilan and Snehan, who all have done a decent job keeping in mind Vijay’s mass image.
1. Thanjavoor Jillakkari
Singers: Hemachandra and Saindhavi
Lyricist: Na. Muthukumar
A youthful and fast song that will definitely match Vijay’s dancing talent. The humming at the back is hum-worthy and will echo in your mind. Hemachandra and Saindhavi add that essential pep in this duet. A noticeable point in the song is the usage of the chorus and the humming in between verses. The beats might remind you of a few songs composed by Mani Sharma before. And just like the trend would be, a few English words in the lyrics have been penned by Muthukumar, making this number youthful.
2. Vetri Kdi Yeathu
Singers: Ranjith and Mukesh
Lyricist: Vaali, S.P. Raajakumar
The song starts of with a composition that conveys a symbol of victory or achievement and then the song has a short stanza talking about the hero. This song is probably this introduction. With a steady tempo, Mani Sharma has used the percussions to good effect, with a catchy tune and the humming of the chorus. Ranjith’s voice is bright as usual and his Tamil diction is flawless. Vaali’s lyrics talk about the hero’s attitude towards life and the society.
3. Vanga Kadal Ellai
Singers: Naveen and Maladhi Lakshmanan
Lyricist: Kabilan
This is a mass number with folk beats and a quintessential Vijay movie song. Nothing really in this song will entertain you. Even the lyrics won’t find your attention and you may even feel déjà vu listening to the music.
4. Siragadikkum Nilavu
Singers: Karthik and Reeta
Lyrics: Snehan
All movie albums these days look like having at least one song with Karthik singing and this song satisfies that craving. A fast paced melodious song between the hero and the heroine, with lyrics about love. The music by Mani Sharma in this one is just another average fare composition. Except for Karthik and Reeta’s voice, nothing is praiseworthy in this song.
5. Thamizhan Veera Thamizhan
Singer: Rahul Nambiar
Lyricist: Kabilan
“Thamizhan Vera Thamizhan…” starts of with a catchy tune and Rahul Nambiar’s voice adds energy to this song. This is basically a paean talking about the hero’s dynamism. With some excellent humming and percussions, this song might see its way in the background of the movie.
6. Naan Nadanthal Adhiradi - Listen here
Singer: Naveen, Shoba Chandrasekar, Janani Madhan
Lyricist: Kabilan
Another hit tune in a recent Telugu movie, Mani Sharma has used the tune effectively for the Tamil version. This song is sung by Naveen, Janani and Vijay’s mother Shoba Chandrasekar. The song starts of with some excellent ‘string’ work and continues with drums that make it a semi-fast song. The string composition is used skillfully in between as well. In between verses, the fillers are just about average and include English lyrics. Lyrics by Kabilan talk about the praises, both the hero and heroine exchange. Over all, a catchy tune.
All in all, as the movie would demand, this album is a mass entertainer that will entertain Vijay’s enormous fan base. Though a few numbers entertain, this album is just above mediocre.

Nayanthara worry about rumors
Nayanthara is currently pairing with Arya in the film Boss Engira Bhaskaran and also in Telugu film with Balakrishna. She is also acting currently in an untitled Malayalam film.
There are lot of rumors these days about Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva. Nayanthara who is currently in Hyderabad while speaking to the media said,” I came to cinema in 2003.
At that time I did not have any big aim. I thought of quitting films after acting in a film. But time has made me an eternal actress. Name and fame flooded me. I will be happy if my film is a hit and sad if it is a flop. But for time being a situation has never risen to make me sad. The Tamil film Aadhavan, Malayalam film Body Guard and Telugu film Adurs in which I have done the female lead role were great hits.
What else can give me that much happiness. People who meet me ask that Meena and Navya Nair has got married, when will be my marriage. I don’t have the answer for this question. Marriage is an important thing in one’s life. It will not happen when we wish. It will happen when the time comes.

Hansika Motwani is the fastest rising star in Tollywood
Teenage beauty Hansika Motwani made a great start in her Telugu career with Desamuduru opposite Allu Arjun. With Kantri and Billa, Hansika became the fastest rising star in Tollywood. Now she is all set to conquer hearts in Kollywood with her debut film Maapillai opposite Dhanush. Maapillai is a remake of the yesteryear super hit with the same title starring Dhanush's father-in-law Superstar Rajinikanth. Bollywood heart-throb Manisha Koirala will play Dhanush's mother-in-law in Maapillai, the story of the cold war between a lady and her son-in-law.
“I’ll try my best to balance my career between Bollywood, Tollywood and Kollywood as I would like to get the best of the worlds. At the moment, I’m doing Main Aur Meri Himmat with Shoaib Akthar (former Pakistani fast bowler) and also an untitled film with Imran Khan directed by Sanjay Chhel,” the pretty actress said to a leading English daily.
About working with Manisha Koirala, she said, “It was great fun to work with Manishaji. She is such a beautiful woman and a great performer.”
Interestingly, the child artist-turned-heroine does not use heavy make-up for her films. “I have not used any make-up for the talkie portion of Maapillai. But, since the director (Suraj) wanted me to do some light make-up for the song sequences, I agreed. The idea is to be as natural as possible,” she added.
The teenage beauty has recently adopted 19 children in Mumbai. “God has given me a lot and it’s only right for me to share it with those less fortunate. God willing, in a few years’ time, I will be able to help a lot more kids in need,” she added.
And the big news is that Prabhu Deva has chosen her to play the role of a young Tamil girl settled in Paris for his forthcoming Itch. She’s also in talks with a big production house for their next film with a Superstar.

Rajinikanth surprise in Sultan The Warrior
‘Sultan The Warrior’ is not going to be an out and out animated film as claimed earlier. Apparently to give a ‘complete Rajini film feel to the die-hard fans of the Superstar, director of the movie Soundarya Rajinikanth has planned some special scenes, in which the top actor would appear like how we saw him in all his earlier flicks.
Circles close to the Superstar’s daughter told IndiaGlitz that Rajini appears in more than one role in ‘Sultan The Warrior’ and one of them would be a non-animated character, with his typical mannerism and styles.
“Though this has been tried in Hollywood earlier, Soundarya is doing this for the first time in Tamil cinema. The character would surely thrill the audience. About 75 per cent of the shoot is complete and plans are on to release the film by the end of 2010. Soundarya has left no stone unturned in terms of making the movie, a landmark in the Superstar’s career,” they say.
On the film’s music, sources say, “A R Rahman has come out with an excellent work and Soundarya is stunned by it. Only the final mixing of songs is to be done. She feels Sultan the Warrior is going to be one of the best films of the Academy and Grammy winner.”

Chennai Super Kings' Failiur is the path of Kollywood's Success
Four defeats in a row and the 2008 IPL finalist Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are virtually out of a semi final berth in IPL 2010!
The local Chennai team’s pathetic performance has made the fans who backed them lose their interest in IPL.From Super Kings to Super flops has actually indirectly helped K- Wood, as now the focus of the local youth will veer back to Tamil cinema and the summer releases. Says Abirami Ramanathan: “The IPL has not really affected movie business and now with the inglorious exit of CSK, from finding a semi final berth the local flavour in the the tournament will be missing.”
Good news for the industry is that Mayajaal multiplex which was screening IPL matches in its air-conditioned auditorium has stopped screening from last Friday (March 26). As per reports the audiences had dipped following CSK’s poor performance and Kollywood was also not too keen on showing IPL matches on the big screen.
Meanwhile it has given a big boost to summer releases like Paiyya and Sura, which will now take even bigger openings.

Tamanna enjoys her life as actress of south India
"Having tasted both success and failure in my career, I know how to go about my work, and I enjoy doing it", says Tamanna, whose second innings in Tamil cinema has made her the numero uno actress of south India.
While everyone attributes their success to hard work and dedication, the petite beauty says, "I am lucky. Fortune has come calling and it has helped me be where I am today".
The girl from Mumbai had a jinxed start to her career when she made her debut in Kollywood with 'Kedi'. However she overcame all odds with a spirited performance in 'Kalloori'. Also, the success of Telugu film 'Happy Days' propelled her career.
"I consider myself lucky to have made it big. There are umpteen number of actresses who also work hard, but success has been eluding them. Hence I am fortunate," she says.
About her forthcoming releases, she says, "I play an interesting role in ‘Paiyaa’. The moment director Lingusamy narrated the story to me, I fell in love with it. Vijay's 'Sura' features me in an interesting role, while rarely an actress can come across a role like the one I am doing opposite ‘Jayam’ Ravi in ‘Thillalangadi’."

Movie Review: Angadi Theru
Banner : Ayngaran International
Cast :Mahesh, Anjali
Direction : Vasantha Balan
Music :G.V. Prakash Kumar, Vijay Antony
Welcome back to real, solid film-making! In this era of shallow, fraudulent movies with non-existent plots, here is a definitive movie with a moral framework, one that works and keeps your attention riveted. Angadi Theru, straight from the heart, comes from Vasantha Balan, a director who understands the nuances of making a realistic film with well-etched out characters and strong screenplay.
After creating waves with his Veyyil, Vasantha Balan is back with his next venture Angadi Theru with a slew of new faces in the lead roles. This film is the story of hundreds of ordinary youngsters, just out of their teens, who come to Chennai with many dreams but end up leading mechanical lives. If you want to watch a movie which pulls your heart-strings, makes you emotional and touches your soul, this is it. Narrating the common man's struggle and sufferings, the true story of many families, this beautifully-made movie is shot in various scenic locations in Tamil Nadu. It takes a great deal of guts and enormous research to produce a realistic story; even after that, the risks attached to making it watchable and successful are truly many. Truly Ayngaran International is to be lauded for this film!
What is it about?
The story begins with a bang! A beautifully picturised song shows the protagonists sloshing their way through the rain-drenched streets of Chennai at night, searching for a place to sleep. Their search ends at a pavement where many workers are sleeping. Suddenly, a lorry rams into another vehicle and then runs over the labourers in a horrifying, bloody accident. The scene shifts to the hospital where a policeman asks a victim about his family. The flashback begins!
Jothilingam (Mahesh) is a bright boy and tops in his Plus Two exams. Due to sudden death of his father, Lingam (as he is called by everyone) is forced to work to support his poor family. He ends up getting a job in a swanky textile shop at the crowded Ranganathan street in T. Nagar, Chennai along with his friend Marimuthu.
Kani (Anjali) is employed at the same shop. After some initial unfriendly encounters, love eventually blossoms between the two. Hundreds of young girls and boys are forced to work here under terrible working conditions. An almost machine-like lifestyle, a pathetic mess where everyone practically attacks his inadequate and tasteless food and the equally bad accommodation make their lives miserable. The rest of the story is about how the protagonists survive in these harsh conditions and what happens to them when fate is even more cruel? The film has many twist and turns with a brilliant climax!
Violation of human rights, pitiable work conditions and sexual molestation as punishments are depicted in the most realistic way. Romance between co-workers, hilarious love poems, blind vendors, a physically challenged worker and his faithful wife -- all these will stay in our hearts forever.
Newcomers are the asset of this film. Debutant Mahesh has given a neat performance but needs to improve in his expressions. Anjali of Kattradhu Thamizh fame and Marimuthu are other pillars of support. Music is scored by Vijay Antony and G.V. Prakash. Richard M. Nathan, who had worked with K.V. Anand, makes his debut as cinematographer and has worked in tandem with the mood of the film.
With a sad but beautiful ending a very powerful storyline, Angadi Theru is one of the best-made recent movies with a touch of class. If you have a taste for good cinema, Angadi Theru is a must-watch movie.

Paiyya releases by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies
'Paiyaa' is in news ever since Lingusamy announced the project with Karthi in the lead. And the film raised many an eyebrow when an announcement was made recently that its release rights have been acquired by Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies.
And plans are now on to dub and release the film simultaneously in Telugu. The Tollywood version has been named 'Awara'. Says Lingusamy, "The Telugu audiences have encouraged my previous films Run, Pandem Kodi (Sanda Kozhi), in a big way. I hope that they would continue their support to ‘Awara’ too."
On the movie, the director says, "Paiyaa is an urban story and tells the interesting events happening in the lives of a pair (Karthi and Tamannah). Besides, Milind Soman and Sonia Deepti are playing pivotal roles. The movie was widely shot in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai."
Throwing more light, he says, "It is a travelogue kind of action adventure. Karthi starts a journey from Bangalore to Mumbai along with Tamannah. The hurdles they face during their trip and how they overcome everything is ‘Paiyaa’."
And he adds, "the film is all about the protagonist meeting his love and hate on his journey. The action packed entertainer is being made in a different way with highways and travel as the backdrop."
The filmmaker is happy with Karthi and Tamannah's performance and is all praises for their commitment and involvement. "Both are professionals. They dedicate themselves fully to work," he says.
Says Karthi, "After playing a rustic youth in Paruthi Veeran and a labourer in Ayirathil Oruvan, I am playing myself in Paiya. The story is stunning and the screenplay is riveting. I am proud to work with a director like Lingusami."
On her part, Tamannah says, "My character in ‘Paiyaa’ is totally different from the ones I essayed before. ‘Paiyya’ will sure show the audience what I am capable of. Working with Lingusamy and Karthi is a delight."
