Confirming this, Anjali says, “Yes, we three are going to work for Ayngaran again. I am hopeful that the new film too would win the admiration of the public like how ‘Angadi Theru’ did. The response is so overwhelming.”

Angadi Theru and Paiyaa are top in Kollywood

Followed by unstoppable failures, Ayngaran International have somehow got themselves rescued in showbiz as their recent release ‘Angadi Theru’ has taken out for best results. It’s an unexpected result indeed! Incisively, because the results have exceeded the producers’ expectation levels with shows being increased at various centres. On pars, Dayanidhi Azhagiri’s ‘Paiyya’ has been equivalently doing a good fare at box office. Lingusamy has been well-lauded for his efforts of striking with a simple-yet-classy entertainer that’s considered to be a passable show by major audiences. What follows them next is Jeeva starrer ‘Kacheri Arambam’ as the film has leaped with some good results amongst the single screens and down south centres. With more commercial entertainers gearing up to hit screens during April-May season, this can be a great boon for audiences and showbiz professionals as well.Top Image Gallery of Today:

Movie Review: Angadi Theru

Banner : Ayngaran International
Cast :Mahesh, Anjali
Direction : Vasantha Balan
Music :G.V. Prakash Kumar, Vijay Antony

Welcome back to real, solid film-making! In this era of shallow, fraudulent movies with non-existent plots, here is a definitive movie with a moral framework, one that works and keeps your attention riveted. Angadi Theru, straight from the heart, comes from Vasantha Balan, a director who understands the nuances of making a realistic film with well-etched out characters and strong screenplay.

After creating waves with his Veyyil, Vasantha Balan is back with his next venture Angadi Theru with a slew of new faces in the lead roles. This film is the story of hundreds of ordinary youngsters, just out of their teens, who come to Chennai with many dreams but end up leading mechanical lives. If you want to watch a movie which pulls your heart-strings, makes you emotional and touches your soul, this is it. Narrating the common man's struggle and sufferings, the true story of many families, this beautifully-made movie is shot in various scenic locations in Tamil Nadu. It takes a great deal of guts and enormous research to produce a realistic story; even after that, the risks attached to making it watchable and successful are truly many. Truly Ayngaran International is to be lauded for this film!

What is it about?

The story begins with a bang! A beautifully picturised song shows the protagonists sloshing their way through the rain-drenched streets of Chennai at night, searching for a place to sleep. Their search ends at a pavement where many workers are sleeping. Suddenly, a lorry rams into another vehicle and then runs over the labourers in a horrifying, bloody accident. The scene shifts to the hospital where a policeman asks a victim about his family. The flashback begins!

Jothilingam (Mahesh) is a bright boy and tops in his Plus Two exams. Due to sudden death of his father, Lingam (as he is called by everyone) is forced to work to support his poor family. He ends up getting a job in a swanky textile shop at the crowded Ranganathan street in T. Nagar, Chennai along with his friend Marimuthu.

Kani (Anjali) is employed at the same shop. After some initial unfriendly encounters, love eventually blossoms between the two. Hundreds of young girls and boys are forced to work here under terrible working conditions. An almost machine-like lifestyle, a pathetic mess where everyone practically attacks his inadequate and tasteless food and the equally bad accommodation make their lives miserable. The rest of the story is about how the protagonists survive in these harsh conditions and what happens to them when fate is even more cruel? The film has many twist and turns with a brilliant climax!

Violation of human rights, pitiable work conditions and sexual molestation as punishments are depicted in the most realistic way. Romance between co-workers, hilarious love poems, blind vendors, a physically challenged worker and his faithful wife -- all these will stay in our hearts forever.

Newcomers are the asset of this film. Debutant Mahesh has given a neat performance but needs to improve in his expressions. Anjali of Kattradhu Thamizh fame and Marimuthu are other pillars of support. Music is scored by Vijay Antony and G.V. Prakash. Richard M. Nathan, who had worked with K.V. Anand, makes his debut as cinematographer and has worked in tandem with the mood of the film.

With a sad but beautiful ending a very powerful storyline, Angadi Theru is one of the best-made recent movies with a touch of class. If you have a taste for good cinema, Angadi Theru is a must-watch movie.

Hidden cameras were used in Angadi Theru movie

Director Vasantabalan has confirmed that hidden cameras were used for the shoot of his Ayngaran International’s Angadi Theru in Ranganathan street in T Nagar, Chennai.
Says Vasantabalan: “The film has been shot 70 percent on Ranganathan Street and surrounding buildings. We were given permission to shoot only during night hours as it is impossible to shoot in daylight in the most crowded area in the state”
Vasantabalan said he fixed up hidden cameras to shoot during day times. Says the ace director: “We wanted a lot of reaction scenes of hero Mahesh and heroine Anjali on the streets as the story demands it. So cameraman Richard M Nathan fixed up vantage points on the streets and shot with the couple who were wearing uniform of a particular textile shop and passed off as sales people as nobody could recognize them.”
Those who have seenAngadi Theru are raving about it. Says a leading director who saw the film: “It’s beautiful well made film, with a great storyline nice melodies and a stunning hard hitting end which is refreshing.”

Ayngaran International with Angadi Theru

Vasanthabalan who shot to fame with his off beat Veyil is now back telling the story of sales boys and girls of T Nagar’s famous Ranganathan Street through his new film Ayngaran International’s Angadi Theru
The film has Mahesh in the lead, pairing with Anjali of Katradhu Thamizh fame. The film has two music directors- GV Prakash and Vijay Antony joining hands together for the first time to produce a film album. Na Muthukumar has written some poetic numbers in the film which pulls at your heart strings.
The hit song from the film Aval Appadi Ondrum Azhagillai.... was premiered on a music channel from Sunday.
The picturisation of the song shows the under current of love between the two leads who are a sales girl and a salesman working in a big textile show room on Ranganathan street.
The first look of the songs clearly indicates that Angadi Theru portrays the human feelings of the common man without any gimmicks and will surely appeal to the family audiences. The film has been censored with a clean ‘U’ certificate and is releasing big on March 26.

Ayngaran International has decided to take a gamble and release their long delayed Vasantha Balan directed Angadi Theru for Pongal.
