Anushka became popular among the audience through the dubbed film Arundhathi. She also paired with Vijay in the recently released Vettaikaran.



Anushka while speaking to the media said,” Through Vettaikaran I came to Tamil. I have also paired with Surya. I am not worried about success and failure. After acting in a film, it is no point in breaking your head whether this film is received well or not.



I will start concentrating on my nest film and try to improve acting skills than my earlier film. My strength is my family. My weakness is to move with others. Because of this I am aloof at the shooting spots. It is my great weakness that I am not able to become friendly with cast and crew.


If you win in cinema you will be on the top otherwise they will ditch you. There should be luck to remain has number one.”

Vijay will act in Malayalam film if he get a good story

Vettaikaran has been released in New Theatres in Trivandrum. Vijay who had come to this theatre yesterday was chatting with his fans.

After this he had visited the poor student’s hostel and provided them free lunch and financial aid for some students. While speaking to media, he said,” I had come to Trivandrum for the 75^th day celebrations of Pokkiri. After this I have come now.

Of all the films I have acted, I like Pokkiri and Vettaikaran. I cannot differentiate Tamil and Malayalam fans. Both are like husband and wife. They are so fond of me. I will act in Malayalam film if I get a good story. Director is the main reason for a film to be a hit.

Only if the director creates a good story, the film will be a success. Currently I am acting in a film titled Sura. This film will be released during the month of May. I also wanted to act in a different type of role from the usual stereo typed roles.

But I should get the director and producer for this to happen. I don’t have any dream for a particular role. I cannot wait for six months to act in a good story. My wish is to act continuously. I will also be acting in a Malayalam remake film Body Guard.”

Vettaikaran director Babu Sivan's next

The Vettaikaran director Babu Sivan is all set to direct his next film. The director says that he is in touch with a few leading stars in Kollywood and all of them have requested him to come with a storyline soon. Babu Sivan, who is working on a story, reveals that his next film would be of the action genre too.

According to him, Vettaikaran’s success was due to Sun Pictures publicity and Vijay’s super stunts. He says that action films have always been welcomed by the audience and hence he decided on this genre.

Four movie releases on Pongal

As January 14 is fast approaching, it looks like four films will release for Pongal.

All the four- Aayirathil Oruvan, Kutty, Nanayam, Porkkalam have been censored and are advertising with their theatre listings.
The last to drop out of the Pongal race is Chimbudervan’s Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam, which as predicted has moved to February.
Out of the remaining four Aayirathil Oruvan and Kutty will share the best screens in Tamil Nadu and Overseas, while Nanayam, Porkkalam will share the rest.
The biggest theatre hunt has started, as already most of them are blocked by Vettaikaran and Avatar, who may go beyond Pongal.
Added to that in Chennai city, multiplexes have no screens to spare as 3 Idiots are making merry as it is turning out to be the biggest Bollywood blockbuster of all times!

J K Sanjith was one of the villains in Vijay starrer Vettaikaran. While speaking to the media he said,” I am currently acting in Vijay starrer Sura and Raavan directed by Manirathnam.

I am donning the role of a powerful villain in the film Sura. Though I have earlier acted in many films, only Vettaikaran brought me to lime light. I want to succeed by doing villain roles. There are lots of opportunities to bring out the acting skills by doing villain roles.

Many are asking me whether I am not interested in hero roles. Everybody likes to do hero roles. I want to prove my acting skills by donning villain roles and after succeeding I will turn towards hero roles. Only if you have talent one can remain in the cine field. Because of this I am taking lot of efforts.”

Ultimate Star Ajith's connection in Vettaikkaran

Any guesses who sang a particular portion of 'Naan Adicha Thanga Maatta....' in 'Vettaikkaran', for which Vijay's son Jason Sanjay shared the screen space with his dad?

He is Aswath Ajith, son of popular drummer Ajith. The young singer's mom Vinitha too is a vocalist. She rendered voice to the hit song 'Kana Kaangiren....' in 'Ananda Thandavam'.

"Thanks to my mom and dad I was inspired by music. I started my journey with a Malayalam film titled 'Currency'. Music composer James Vasanthan gave me the opportunity to step into Tamil cinema with 'Pasanga'. Then came the 'Vettaikkaran' offer," Aswath Ajith says.

On his goals, he says, "I want to make it big in the field of music. Also, I would like to learn all forms of music. With support from my parents, I am hopeful that I would achieve my goals."

Happy about the feedback he has been getting for 'Vettaikkaran', Aswath says, "my friends and parents are immensely proud. My thanks to music composer Vijay Antony for giving me the opportunity."

Vettaikkaran collection resumed

‘Vettaikkaran’ released on 18th December all over the world is enjoying good reception in all places equally. The film released with a bang worldwide in nearly 500 screens that includes 16 in Chennai city alone. Especially the Vettaikkaran’s reach and response is grand, say the sources.

Vettaikkaran’s greet was so marvellous in New Jersey that Adlabs Big Cinemas added more shows. Industry sources had it that screens in California, Bay Area enjoyed houseful shows. Its looks like the film will be screened during the New Year holiday in Connecticut and Boston due to fans request.

Looks like bad weather played spoil sport on December 19th and 20th and did not allow fans to turn to theaters on those days but, collection resumed later. The collection must further improve as Christmas and New Year holidays are round the corner, plus online booking is going big business, adds the source.

Vettaikaran movie's villain role very effective

The recently released Vijay’s Vettaikaran has garnered good responses. The music of the film has come in for much praise and so is the villain of the film. For well informed people, the villain resembles Saikumar, who has featured in films like Andapuram, Vettiya Madichu Kattu etc.

When the matter was probed, it was disclosed that the villain Ravi Shankar is indeed the brother of Saikumar and was behind the camera all along. He is a renowned dubbing artist who has dubbed for more than 2500 films. The offer to feature in Vettaikaran was accidental when director Babu Sivan spotted Ravi Shankar who was returning from Prasad studios after dubbing for a film. When the director approached him to act as a baddie in Vijay’s film, he is said to have agreed but after much apprehension. However, with the release of the film, he is happy that his performance has been well received

Our Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay’s Trichy visit

Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay met Sun Pictures’ Kalanidhi Maran to thank him for the astounding success of Vettaikaran. The film has already garnered a record collection and the coffers are expected to be filled up even further. Along with Vijay, his father producer-director SA Chandrasekar and Sun Pictures’ CEO Hansraj Saxena were also present during the meeting.

During the meet Kalanidhi Maran reportedly told Vijay to visit the theatres in Trichy where Vettaikaran is being screened as the response from that part of the state is overwhelming. He added that Vijay’s presence could boost the trade even further.

Vijay’s 49th film Vettaikaran opens war from today

 

Vijay’s 49th film Vettaikaran opened to a war welcome in theaters today. Vijay fans were visibly thrilled to have their favorite star’s film to celebrate the Christmas-New Year season.

All theaters screening the movie in Chennai, which is over 15, have already been booked for the first three days. Mayajaal alone is showing the movie 40 times a day. The opening day opinion also seems to be going in favor of the movie as a typical Vijay entertainer and the good start is expected to be sustained over the first week. That is definitely a good start for the theatrical run of Vettaikaran. It will be interesting to see whether the initial momentum translates into a long run in theaters.

Vijay is back in the easy comfort of the FORMULA - one that is all about a larger-than-life character, an adrenalin pumping introductory song, dream duets in studio sets and foreign locales, comedy , punch dialogue, action and sentiments. So, if you have seen earlier films of the superstar, you may strive hard to find anything new in Vettaikaran, which is old wine served in a new bottle, with a different label.
It is a one-man show for Vijay as he is there in every frame, catering to the mass audience who want their dose of unpretentious masala mix. The cardinal rule one should follow while watching such ‘mass masala films are to suspend disbelief and never ask questions pertaining to logic.
The success of such films depends purely on how a director is able to keep his audience spellbound without a script and give him a time-pass entertainer.
The story line is simple and as old as the hills. ‘Police’ Ravi (Vijay) is a village simpleton and a good samaritan who has a sneaking admiration for the men in uniform, mainly the upright and honest cop Devaraj (Sri Hari). Ravi, a cool guy, comes to Chennai to study and drives an auto to make a living but soon gets into a bloody fight with Chella (Ravishankar), a guy who is part of a land mafia and a notorious womaniser.
Chella is beaten to pulp and his dad Vedanayagam (Salim Ghouse) takes over. A cat and mouse game follows. The do-gooder turns into a super hero as the hunt begins.
Added attractions are Susheela (Anushka), a girl whom Ravi meets on a train, who later joins him at regular intervals for the song ‘n’ dance routine. A comic police officer Kattabomman (Sayaji Shinde), and a true friend of the hero (Sathyan), who is killed by the villains, are the other clichéd characters.
On the downside, there is no bone of originality in the story which is etched from earlier films. The climax is hackneyed and predictable. The film works due to Vijay, his charisma and immense screen presence. He takes the cake, cream and cherry and plays to the gallery, with abandon and underlines his over-the-top character with an infectious sense of fun.
Anushka has nothing much to do and hence goes unnoticed. Sri Hari is wasted while Sayaji Shinde does his usual comedy act. Ravishankar and Salim Ghouse are adequate.
A major plus for the movie are the five peppy songs tuned by Vijay Antony which are choreographed well. The introductory song Naan Adichal... has lot of energy in it and the cute bit with Vijay’s son Sanjay dancing with him rocks! The action scenes by Kanal Kannan are superbly choreographed.
Gopinath’s camera is slick and editing is fast paced, despite the film running into two hours and 54 minutes.
Designed as a paisa vasool film, Vettaikaran is strictly for Vijay's fans - it delivers the goods.

Kamal has impressed by Anushka

Kamal Hassan the versatile actor of south Indian film industry is impressed by Telugu mirchi woman Anushka Shetty. It is reported that Kamal was impressed on seeing her film “Arundhati” in Telugu and so wanted to cat her in his upcoming projects. But due to some reason, the desire of him could not be materialized.

Kamal feels that the 29 year old beauty Anushka is extremely talented and will surely rule south Indian film industry after her ‘VETTAIKARN release. The actor was so much impressed with Anushka that he recommended her name to K Balachander who is considered as a god father of many south Indian film stars.

Sun pictures bought Sura for 32 crores

The distribution rights of Vijay’s next film Sura is bought by Sun pictures for an astounding 32 crores. Not only this is an astronomical sum, it’s also quite unusual of Sun to procure the rights of a movie while it’s still under production. Sun also owns the distribution rights of Vijay’s Vettaikaran which is being released on December 18.

Sura is directed by S P Rajkumar and produced by Sangili Murugan. Touted to be a comic caper, Sura has Tamannah cast opposite Vijay. Vadivelu, a staple in Vijay movies is also present.

In Kerala the film has been sold at the highest rate in the last two years, a new record for a Vijay film. Vettaikaran is releasing in Kerala with the rest of the world on December 18, in nearly 75 screens.
