Finally 3 Idiots remake has confirmed for tamil & telugu version
At a time when a lot of buzzes are doing rounds about the Tamil remake of ‘3 Idiots’, director of the Bollywood blockbuster Raju Hirani has confirmed that the film is being remade in south Indian languages
Speaking at the DVD launch of the Aamir Khan starrer in Mumbai, the filmmaker said, “The movie will be soon made in Tamil and Telugu. But I don’t know who will play the lead there.”
“I think they (producers and director of the Tamil version) are currently in the process of casting,” Hirani said and added that he has no plans to make a sequel to ‘3 Idiots’. “I am not with that idea,” he said.
There were reports that a popular production house has acquired the remake rights of ‘3 Idiots’ and Shankar will direct both the Tamil and Telugu versions. “While Vijay will replace Aamir Khan in Tamil, Mahesh Babu will play the role in Telugu,” reports said.

Endhiran release date has changed as September 3
Even as news about Shankar's approval to direct the Tamil, Telugu remakes of Hindi ‘3 Idiots’ is still raging there was some media reports that hinted his ambitious Rajinikanth film ‘Endhiran’ may not be released in August as told by the super star himself.
News floating today is almost confirming it. The new release date for ‘Endhiran’ could be September 3 according to some sources in Shankar's office.
Though there is no reason given for the postponement, it may be due to the enormous number of prints that will be generated for a worldwide release. In India alone ‘Endhiran’ is expected to strike 800 screens across the country. Japan and Chine will get 120 prints and for other global markets 160 prints are expected to fly. That means ‘Endhiran’ will have around 1500 prints in release and that will make it one of the biggest films of the world ever.

Katrina Kaif refuses Vijay's offer in 3 Idiots tamil remake
We knew that Gemini Films Circuit has bought the rights of the Hindi blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’ to remake in Tamil and Telugu. There were quite a few top names - including Vijay, Suriya, Madhavan, Jeeva and Dhanush - tossed to play the coveted 3 idiots’s roles. As of now Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay has been confirmed to play Aamir Khan’s character Rancho in the Tamil version.
For the interesting female lead role Piya played by Kareena, all the big actresses in south showed interest. But the makers went to Katrina Kaif and the Bollywood No. 1 declined the offer due to unavailability of dates.
According to Katrina’s media manager she is very busy for the rest of the year with films like the sequel to ‘Dostana’ and Zoya Akhtar’s next directorial venture with Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar.Top Image Gallery of Today:

Sruthi Hassan or Asin in Vijay's 3 Idiots remake movie
Has Ilayathalapathy Vijay, the ‘Raja of Remake’ signed up with Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) to do the Tamil remake of Aamir Khan’s Raju Hirani directed blockbuster 3 Idiots?
The Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Vijay has agreed to do the film and is on the look out for a director to take over the project. Cameraman Ratnavelu has been signed up for the porject. GFC had earlier remade Munnabhai MBBS into Tamil as Vasool Raja and recently Telugu hit Arya as Kutty in Tamil. GFC has the remake rights of 3 Idiots in all south Indian languages.
The names making the round to direct the film include Vishnuvardhan, Dharani etc. Vijay has not cleared the director as he wants somebody who will modify the original and make it suitable for the mass audiences. In the remake Vijay will play Rancho, the character made memorable by Aamir, while Prakash Raj is likely to do Bomman Irani’s role as Virus!
Madhavan who rocked in the original has made it clear that he will not be part of the Tamil version as he had already “given my heart and soul to the character I played in the Hindi version and it will be boring to do the same character again in the Tamil remake.”
Udayanidhi Stalin has been approached by the film’s producers to do this role. Sharman Joshy’s role will be done by an upcoming star.
Who will do Kareena Kapoor’s role? The name making the rounds is the usual suspect’s Sruthi Hassan and Asin. The other big question that remained unanswered is when will Vijay start work on 3 Idiots remake? What about his commitment to do Bodyguard remake with director Siddique and when will he start director Jayam Raja’s film for Oscar Ravichandran?

Maddy has done 11 films in Bollywood since 2001
I have found out that after over a year or so I feel embarassed to watch my own films but my performances in films like 'Rang De Basanti', '3 Idiots' and 'Ramji Londonwaley' are something I would love to watch again and again," Madhavan said.
"These films are close to my heart as the characters that I played were appreciated by all. The roles were significant and the audience could connect with it," he said.
The Tamil actor, fondly known as Maddy, has acted in 11 films in Bollywood since 2001 including 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein', 'Dil Vil Pyar Vyar', 'Guru', 'Ramji Londonwaley', 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' and his latest flick 'Teen Patti' alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Ben Kingsley.
'Rehna Hai...' marked Madhavan's debut in Bollywood in 2001 for which he was nominated for the 'Best Male Debut' and 'Most Promising Male Newcomer' awards catagory. But true recognition came to the 29-year-old actor with 'Rang De Baanti' in 2005.
In the film, Madhavan essayed the role of Ajay Rathod, Flight Lieutenant in the Indian Air Force who was killed in a aircraft crash.
"My role was appreciated by film critics and it was my first major hit in Bollywood," he said.
On his role in '3 Idiots' and 'Ramji Londonwaley', Madhavan said, "Role of Farhan Qureshi was appreciated by all and was nominated for awards. Every young guy could associate with the character."
However, 'Ramji...' did not do well at box office but it was a simple, sweet and lovable character, he said.
Maddy's career in South Indian cinema continues to go strong, with his film 'Thambi' proving to be a big hit. Besides, the actor also made his entry in tele soaps in late 1990s.
"I have done about 1,600 episodes on TV before films," he said. Maddy was part of television serials like 'Banegi Apni Baat', 'Saaya', 'Sea Hawks', 'Tol Mol Ke Bol' and 'Ghar Jamai'.
Madhavan's upcoming projects in Bollywood include the much delayed Hindi-Bengali bilingual 'Sunglass', directed by Rituparno Ghosh, 'Tanu Weds Manu' with Kangana Ranaut and 'Freedom'.

Maddy: selecting story is hard
Madhavan while speaking to the media in Chennai recently said,” I would like to act in films which have a different good storyline. At the same time I want be acting differently.
The reason is that every actor has his own style of acting. Nobody can change this. It is a challenging thing to select a different kind of story. Sometimes people do not like the story. I don’t want to act in stereo typed roles.
Before the commencement of the shooting, I will study about my role and become familiar. I also search for other matters that are required for the role.
In Three Idiots I did the role of an IIT student. I got familiar with the present syllabus and the studying methods. Only after this I became ready for the character.”Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Avatar becomes the biggest Hollywood film ever in India
James Cameron’s magnificent spectacle in its 3D version in English is clearly ahead of Hindi films such as ‘3 Idiots’ in multiplexes in the Northern belt (predominantly a Hindi speaking market). While the collections of Aamir Khan’s film were reported to be Rs 24 Lakhs from the 4 major multiplexes where 3D is available, ‘Avatar’ raced ahead with a collection of around 39 Lakhs. In fact in PVR Select City & PVR Ambience, ‘Avatar’ (3D) has already grossed a record breaking 1.5 Crores each.
Even in its 4th week of release, ‘Avatar’ is still ruling the Indian Box Office and having grossed Rs 83 crores till date, it is all set to become the biggest Hollywood film ever in India.
The collections from the 3D screens is more than encouraging – with 54 3D screens (9%) contributing to 35% of the total three week box office collection in India.
Worldwide too, the film has beaten all competition and has now hit the No.2 spot by becoming the highest grossing movie (globally) of all time after Cameron’s own ‘Titanic’.

Four movie releases on Pongal
As January 14 is fast approaching, it looks like four films will release for Pongal.
All the four- Aayirathil Oruvan, Kutty, Nanayam, Porkkalam have been censored and are advertising with their theatre listings. The last to drop out of the Pongal race is Chimbudervan’s Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam, which as predicted has moved to February.
Out of the remaining four Aayirathil Oruvan and Kutty will share the best screens in Tamil Nadu and Overseas, while Nanayam, Porkkalam will share the rest.
The biggest theatre hunt has started, as already most of them are blocked by Vettaikaran and Avatar, who may go beyond Pongal.
Added to that in Chennai city, multiplexes have no screens to spare as 3 Idiots are making merry as it is turning out to be the biggest Bollywood blockbuster of all times!

3 Idiots movie breaks Ghajini’s record
Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots has broken the record collection mark during the opening weekend. Interestingly, Ghajini, which was also an Aamir starrer, was holding the coveted position and now he has managed to break his own record.
Official sources put the total gross collection at Rs. 93 crores. In a press release, the film’s producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, “Response has been overwhelming from all over the world. Aamir, Raju and I knew from the responses earlier on that people liked the film but this is something else... We have got reports from places like Australia that they have reduced 'Avatar' shows and increased ours.”
Apart from Aamir, 3 Idiots stars Madhavan, Kareena Kapoor and Sharman Joshi.

Movie Review: 3 Idiots
Starring: : Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani.
Direction: Rajkumar Hirani
Music: Shantanu Moitra
Production: Vidhu Vinod Chopra Productions
Buckle up audience and get ready to be entertained, as the brilliant mind behind the Munnabhai Series (Rajkumar Hirani) and Mr. Perfectionist (Aamir Khan) are coming together for the first time. The marketing strategies followed have hit the right chord, especially the ‘alternate reality gaming’ which has become quite a rage. Will the sky rocketing expectation of the most awaited movie of the year be met? Can Mr. Perfectionist give his second Christmas blockbuster in a row?
3 Idiots does prove a worthy follow-up to the Munnabhai series for the Vinod Chopra- Rajkumar Hirani duo, and a sure-shot extension to the successful streak of Aamir Khan. This might not be ‘5 point someone’ as Hirani promised, but it has all the ingredients to be ‘Munnabhai 3’ with several sequences, reminding us the classic tale of Laxmi Prasad Sharma.
The story is about two friends Farhan (Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman) who on getting a clue on the whereabouts of their college friend, Rancho (Aamir), start a quest to find him. Rancho in his college days was an exceptional, but
curious kid, who questions the way education has been taught. His two best friends Farhan and Raju follow his ideals half-heartedly, only to come under the bad books of the dean Viru Sahastrabudhhe (Boman Irani). To everyone’s amazement, amidst his crankiness and naughty college mischief, Rancho always comes first in his exams. His exemplary friendship, love and naughtiness make him a hero amongst his friends and also to the daughter of Viru Sahastrabudhhe, Pia (Kareena Kapoor). Rancho helps his friends to achieve what they dream of, but disappears mysteriously after getting his degree. Why does Rancho run away? What’s behind the mystery? Will Pia get Rancho? Will the two idiots find the third? Find out in a theatre near you.
The movie is a joyful ride from start to finish with the pace tilting downwards only in the middle of the second half. Few good twists and the non-linear style of storytelling help the proceedings in a big way too. But Rajkumar Hirani borrows most of his jokes from the net and also does go filmy in a few scenes like the Sharman interview sequence or Aamir crying for every little thing that his friend does, or the scene where Mona Singh is having a baby and the scene after that. But scenes like the speech by Omi for teacher’s day, or the first time Rancho visits Raju’s house or Mona singh’s marriage, helps in bringing down the entire theatre with laughter.
Every single person behind the camera has enjoyed what they have done and that shows clearly in the final product. Whether it is the DOP C.K.Muraleedharan, or the music director Shantanu Moitra, or the editor Ranjeet Bahadur or Dialogue writer Abhijit Joshi (the last two sharing their credits with the director), all have done a spectacular job.
Initially, getting to believe Madhavan or Aamir as college students might be quite tough, but as the screenplay moves, we just start enjoying the movie and their acting. Aamir Khan is spectacular as Rancho and age aside, we can’t think of a better Rancho after seeing the movie. Madhavan might not be looking as a college student but he brings a new dimension to his acting repertoire - a brilliant act. Sharman shows his excellence in a role which seems to be written for him. Kareena looks cute and does her role with equal cuteness. Boman Irani is brilliant, but what’s new in it? Mona Singh is good in a small part. The actor enacting the role Omi is easily the find of the season; he is exceptional in almost all his scenes and is a riot to watch.
It’s been quite a while since we saw the entire theatre clapping, laughing aloud and whistling with you. It’s a complete theatre going experience. 3 Idiots is easily going to be the number one movie for quite a while at the box-office and can very well be the number one movie of the year. Hirani manages to give an excellent entertainer with a subtle message one more time
