Ever since Gemini Film Circuit bought the Telugu and Tamil remake rights of 3 Idiots from Vidhu Vinod Chopra, there is widespread anticipation about the lead roles. In Kollywood, rumours suggest that actor Vijay will play the role of Aamir Khan in the Tamil version. Madhavan has already made it clear that he is open to reprise his role in Tamil as well.

The latest buzz is that Kollywood's prominent director Shankar may direct the Tamil version after completing his big budget extravagance Endhiran with superstar Rajinikanth. Sources add that the director will make some changes in the script to suit the tastes of Tamil audiences.

3 Idiots is the highest grossing Hindi film in Tamil Nadu, where it has managed to gross a record Rs. 1.65 crore from 22 screens in its very first week. National wide, the film is said to have grossed about Rs. 240 crore in just 10 days.

Anushka doesn't feel better in Kollywood

Suriya’s latest movie ‘Singam’ is releasing in Telugu as 'Yamudu' on July 2. For the occasion the team met the media in Hyderabad. Suriya, Anushka, writer Sahithi and producer Gnanavel Raja took part in the event.

At the event Suriya thanked the Telugu audience for accepting him in Tollywood. He also said he is a great fan of Anushka and was very happy doing the film with her.

But Anushka was very open, candid and surprising.

She said she hasn’t seen the Tamil version 'Singam' yet even after 4 weeks of super run. But she had seen the Telugu and felt the dubbed version 'Yamudu' looked very original and she did not feel it is dubbed from Tamil any where. She also said her role was in the film was not just a glamour doll but with substance.

But what she said later is a revelation. Anushka said though she does films in Tamil her first preference undoubtedly is Telugu. ‘Singam’ was her third film and first hit in Tamil after ‘Rendu’ with Madhavan and ‘Vettaikkaran’ with Vijay.

Jayam Ravi's new born baby

Jayam Ravi became the proud father of a baby boy today (June 29) as his wife Aarthi gave birth at a private hospital at 4pm in Chennai.

Ravi who was shooting for Parbhu Deva’s Ich in Paris was tensed, as he was on the phone throughout the day, with family members. And when he heard the happy news, he has decided to take the next flight to Chennai to see his little son and be near Aarthi.

June seems to be the month of new born’s as Suriya and Dhanush also got their second babies in the same month. M.Raja told Sify.com: “ Both mother and son are doing fine and we are all so happy that Ravi is coming back for a couple of days to be with us”.

Trisha gets small break from Manmadha Ambu team for Khatta Meeta release

After completing the shooting for the Hindi film Khatta Meeta, Trisha has gone abroad for the shooting of the Tamil film Manmadha Ambu. This film has Kamal Haasan in the lead role and is directed by K S Ravi Kumar.

They have gone to Paris. The shooting of the film is taking place in cruise ship like Titanic. Important scenes are to be shot in this ship. Scenes pertaining to Kamal, Trisha, Madhavan and Sangeetha are being shot in this cruise ship. After completing this film, Trisha will once again act in a Hindi film.

Gowtham Menon will be directing the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya. Trisha will be donning the role of Jersey what she did in Tamil. Talks are going on with regard to this.

Trisha while speaking about this said,” I cannot openly tell about me acting in the film Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya now. I am very happy because I am pairing with Kamal in the film Manmadha Ambu. The shooting of this film is taking place in a ship. I am enjoying every moment with happiness. Kamal is an intellectual person. He knows about everything that is under the sun.”



The Hindi film Khatta Meeta is to be released soon. Director Priyadarshan has requested to participate in the publicity campaign of this film. So she has sought the permission from K S Ravi Kumar for a small break from Manmadha Ambu. K S Ravi Kumar has permitted her.

Aishwarya Rai pass port issue

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has filed a complaint at the Cyber Crime Cell in Mumbai. The actress was shocked to find a scanned copy of her passport leaked in the World Wide Web. Following this, she lodged a complaint. In her complaint, the actress had stated that all the details of her travels to foreign countries and her birth date have been leaked.

The actress has said that she had never given her passport to a third person barring the production houses to make arrangements for film shootings held abroad. The police are investigating the issue and are said to suspect that one of the production house could have leaked the info.

Karthi speaks about his Naan Mahan Alla Movie

After Paiyya, Karthi is acting in the film titled Naan Mahan Alla. Kajal Agarwal is pairing with him. The press meet for this film was held. Karthi, director Susindhran, producer K E Gnanavel, cinematographer Mathi and Editor Kasi Viswanathan participated in this meet.

Karthi while speaking to the media, said,” When director Susindhran was narrating the first half of the story I was laughing. I asked him whether I would be suitable for the role of an ordinary middle income youth. He said I will fit the role. For the first time I rehearsed for this film. I rehearsed for one week.

You can say that this is a youth’s life instead of it calling a story. There is a youth from the middle income group who is living happily. A crime that happens in some corner turns his life upside down. This is the story of Naan Mahan Alla. I enjoyed acting in the romantic scenes. This film will be an important for Kajal Agarwal.”

Sunaina while speaking to the media said,” Hello, don’t call me Sunaina. The whole Tamil Nadu calls me Vamsam Malarkodi. Thanks to Pandiraj sir for this. My native place is Nagpur. I did my schooling there. That’s why I have lot of friends there. I came to Hyderabad for cinema sake.

I got the opportunity to act in Kadhalil Vizhundhen after the director saw me in jewel Ad film. I had acted in two Telugu films. I was waiting for good films. At that time I got the opportunity to act in Tamil film. I came immediately here. After three Tamil films, they have changed me as Tamil Nadu girl.

The film Vamsam has a backdrop of a wholesome village. I am donning the role of Malarkodi who is a chatter box. About my heroes, I should say Arulnidhi will turn out to be an action hero. He is simple person. Bharath is a good dancer. Ajmal would be suitable for character roles. I am doing two films with Nakul. He is very sincere and dedicated person. Shruti Haasan's re enter in Bollywood

Director Madhur Bhandarkar will be directing his first ever comedy flick and he has signed up Shruti Haasan. The film, which is titled Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji, will have Emraan Hashmi pairing up with Shruti. Apparently, the actress was keen on working with Bhandarkar and expressed her desire to him. The director decided to cast her in his film after he was convinced that she would fit the bill.

It may be recalled that this is Shruti’s second film in Bollywood after her debut vehicle Luck which met with a lukewarm response at the box office.

Karthi: Kajol Agarwal is better then Tamanna

Jeyam Ravi: Tamanna looks very glamorous in Thillalangadi

Because lot of actors is acting, the expenses have been increased. You can laugh at each scene. Vadivelu, Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu and Sathyan are doing comedy with me. Many are asking me whether there was ego problem among them. Ego is not a negative matter. When we think our role should come well, that itself is ego.

But this is strength to a film and not weakness. Both Santhanam and Vadivelu have really rocked in the comedy scenes. If you see the film, you can come to know that how genius is Vadivelu. Santhanam is for the first time donning a role that nobody has donned so far.

Thamanna has become very close to us. She invited the whole Thillalangadi team for lunch at her house in Mumbai. Thamanna has for the first time had acted in glamorously in this film. Most of the audience would be stunned by her looks.

Dhanush wait till the Vijay’s film

Vijay is said to have almost completed Kaavalkaran, which is directed by Siddique, and has moved on to Velayudham. The shooting of this venture is expected to begin soon. Enquiries in the tinsel town reveal that Priyan has already been signed up by director Jayam Raja for the Vijay-starrer Velayudham.

Reports from Kollywood also say that director Hari is waiting for cameraman Priyan, who had wielded the camera for Singam, to begin Aruva. Will Dhanush wait till the Vijay’s film is wrapped up or will Hari move on to another cinematographer? Let’s wait and watch.

Karthi's Naan Mahaan Alla release date on July 23

Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja held a press meet to announce that his Karthi- Kajol Agarwal starrer Naan Mahaan Alla, directed by Suseenthiran is ready for release in July.

Those present at the meet included hero Karthi, director Suseenthiran, cinematographer Mathi, editor Kasi Viswanath, dialogue writer Baskar Sakthi and producer Gnanavel. The film will be marketed by Cloud Nine

The Paiyaa team of Karthi, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and cameraman Mathi are together again in NMA. Says director Suseenthiran: “If my earlier film Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu had a village milieu, NMA has a city background. The film belongs to Karthi and Pasanga fame Jayaprakash who plays his dad”

NMA story in a nutshell is about a happy go lucky guy played by Karthi being drawn into a cesspool of crime after an incident changes his life. Kajol plays what the director says “a cute girl, something similar to what Asin did in Ghajani”.

Karthi says: “ Suseenthiran says that my character in NMA is similar in nature to the moody yet jovial characterization of Karthik in Mani Sir’s Mouna Ragam. The film is racy and I play Jeeva, a typical middle class Chennai youth and the story is a slice of life in a big city. It is a stylish yet realistic film.”

Naan Mahaan Alla, is slated for release on July 23. It is going to be Karthi’s fourth release, in three years and the third this year after Aayirathil Oruvan and Paiyaa.

Meghna Naidu pregnant rumours in Gmail

Actress Meghna Naidu lodged a complaint at the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell (CCIC), Mumbai that her e-mail account has been hacked and someone has been chatting with her friends claiming that she is pregnant from a relationship with an actor. The actress’s friends got suspicious of the chat messages and sensed something was wrong and alerted Meghna. She immediately checked her Gmail account and reported the incident to the Cyber Crime Investigation Cell. The police are investigating the case and are searching for the hacker.

Meghna has starred in a couple of Tamil films which includes an item number in Kutty and cameo in Pandhayam.

Glamour girl Tejashree enters Mollywood

Tejashree is all set to make her debut in Malayalam. Tejashree entered into Tamil films singing 'China Veeda Varatuma' with Arjun in the film ‘Ottran’. She was the other heroine of Vijay in ‘Madhura’. But gradually she slipped into second leads and then item numbers.

The talented glamour girl is now all set to entice the Malayalam audience with her first Malayalam film ‘Female Unnikrishnan’. In Female Unnikrishnan she plays a character with speech disorder which is going to be a great challenge for her.

Known to be a glamour girl Tejashree is ready to take up the challenge head on. Ace Malayalam comedian Suraj Venjaramoodu will pair opposite Tejashree in the film to be directed by K B Madhu.

Asin's Friendship with Dhoni and Amir Khan

But going for the shooting there is not in my hands. Initially the film was to shot in Bangkok and later it was changed to Mauritius. Finally it was changed to Sri Lanka. This is also not final. There will be so many problems while planning a film. It is not a healthy thing that if the producer and technicians are affected. That is why I am going to Sri Lanka.

Neetu Chandra wish to act fight scene with Vikram

While Vikram is the one actor with whom Neetu Chandra wants to act in a fight scene, Suriya is her favourite actor as far as Tamil cinema is concerned. The actress has revealed this in a recent interview.

“I know martial arts well and would like to be part of an action film. If I get an opportunity, I would be thrilled to share the screen space with Vikram in a stunt scene, for he performs action sequences with consummate ease,” she said.

Expressing a desire to buy a house in Chennai, Neetu said, “Many ask me whether I belong to Chennai. Also, I like this city and its people very much. So I would like to buy an apartment here as soon as possible.”

Enthiren team waiting for Aishwarya Rai

The entire unit of Enthiren including Sun Pictures, director Shankar and Rajinikanth are waiting for the elusive dates of Aishwarya Rai to complete the last song in the film.

Enthiren, said to be the mother of all commercial films is almost complete with just one song remaining to be shot. A source from the unit says that the full edited film has been given to A.R.Rahman for background score and Resul Pookutty for the sound effects.

Ash who was busy for the last two months completing Raavan and its promotions has given dates towards the end of June to shoot the song on a studio set in Chennai. Sabu Cyril the art director of the film has created a gigantic futuristic city set at Sun Pictures news state-of-the-art studio in OMR in Chennai.

The buzz is that it is the most expensive set created for a Tamil film song and this particular song tuned by AR Rahman will be the chartbuster in the film. Shankar plans to launch the audio in Malaysia and release the film it for Diwali 2010.

Raktha Chaitra movie story line

Suriya is one actor who likes to experiment with different get-ups on screen. Whether in Kaakha Kaakha, Perazhagan, Pithamagan or Vaaranam Aayiram, the actor has performed each role with ease and panache. Now he is busy wrapping RGV's much-hyped Raktha Chaitra.
Raktha Charitra (RC) is a real-life story based on Paritala Ravi, a gangster in Andhra Pradesh in the early ’80s. “I play Maddelacheruvu Suri, an intense character, and a rival of Vivek Oberoi, who essays the role of Paritala Ravi. Suri is the only one in the story who’s still alive. I haven’t met him yet, but I’ve tried to model my body language based on the narrative given by director Ram Gopal Varma,” Suriya said to a leading English daily.
The film is a bilingual being made in Hindi and Telugu (also dubbed in Tamil as Rattha Charitram). “I didn’t take up Raktha Charitra with an intention to enter Bollywood. It’s just that when Ramu sir told me about the script, I was very impressed. The movie is so intense and has no heroine, songs or dances. So, Ramu sir calls it a men’s film. And for both Ramu sir and me, the film has come at an important stage in our careers; RGV has the experience to direct such an intense film after so many milestones and I can afford to experiment with such a character,” he added.
Raktha Charitra will also mark the Bollywood debut of Suriya. “It’s about widening my reach and taking up the challenge to appeal to a pan-Indian audience. It’s a completely different set-up and ambience. But I won’t leave Tamil cinema. Even when I accept a Hindi film, I’ll ensure it’s watchable for my fans in the south as well,” he clarified.

Raavanan Movie: Too many heads and too little heart

Put together an avant-garde director, an undisputed music maestro, an acclaimed cameraperson, an ensemble cast, virgin locales and a timeless epic featuring the archetypal villain, and you get Raavanan.

The year’s most awaited film was unveiled on June 18. But did it prove to be the proverbial ‘jewel in the crown’ for Mani Ratnam?

Interestingly, the celestial patterns have their own story to tell, and it largely matches with the actual movie-viewing experience.

The original Raavana - whom we know from Tulsidas’s epic - was a man of heady intensity. Be it his hatred for Rama, his devotion to Shiva, and his pride over his invincible powers, he was the perfect ‘no-holds-barred’ anti-hero.

By highlighting the soft and humane side of the ‘Raavanesque’ Veera - played by Vikram - the director ends up confusing the audiences.

Fittingly, fiery Mars points out that despite Mani’s daring portrayal, the film will attract more criticism than praise.

It is also worth noting what the stars have in store for the stars. Although the romantic Venus in the sign of Moon will make Aishwarya Rai the talking point, there won’t be much appreciation for her performance.

The film will add a new feather to actor Vikram’s cap, but the planet Sun says it won’t brighten the film’s chances much.

Mani’s experimentation with kidnap dramas has borne fruits in the past - Roja was a blockbuster and Bombay won critical acclaim. But his presentation of India’s most well-known abduction saga has left the viewer shaking his head.

Evidently, the wisdom of Jupiter suggests that the public will expect a masterpiece, but might feel let down.

Moreover, the planet of communication Mercury, placed in the 9th house, speaks of disappointment on the musical front.

The planetary combinations predict that the movie will not prove to be a money-spinner in the long run. It also indicates that while the Tamil version Raavanan will be accepted in the South, in the North the Hindi version Raavan will struggle to make an impact.

Trisha loves every moment in Manmadhan Ambu shooting

Trisha is loving every moment of shooting for her new film Manmadhan Ambu, directed by K S Ravikumar.

Two days back, the unit of the film which was shooting in Paris went to Monte Carlo and joined a cruise.

The ship which reminds you of Titanic is huge with three decks and with the crew including the lead pair Kamal and Trisha has set off on the cruise where the major part of the shoot is taking place.

Says Trisha: “It is an awesome experience and enjoying every moment of it.”

On Kamal Hassan, the actress says: “It is great fun and informative working with Kamal Sir. I admire his intelligence and knowledge on any subject under the sun”. Madhavan is joining the cruise this weekend.

Is Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan pregnant?

Red Giant gets the rights of Madhrasapatinam

Arya starrer Madhrasapatinam, directed by A.L. Vijay, will be released by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies. The production company has got the theatrical rights of AGS Entertainment’s period film.

A special screening of the film was arranged for Udayanidhi who was impressed with the movie. The period drama takes place in the 1940’s Madras, just before the Indian Independence.

Since Uday is marketing it the film is expected to do good.

Vikram joins Ileana in Vedi movie

After getting critical and box-office success with the opening of Raavanan, Vikram is still on promotional tour for the film.

He will be going to Kerala, Andhra and towards the end of the month to US, where he will be honoured by Tamizh Sangam.

Speaking with us Vikram said: “I’m so happy after going on a theatre round on the opening day of the release of Raavanan in Chennai. The response to the film has been simply amazing, as people are going crazy about it. Now for the next two weeks I will be promoting the film even more aggressively all over south India.”

Vikram will start his new film Vedi with Ileana, directed by Bhoopathy Pandian and produced by Mohan Natarajan on July 15 in Salem. It is a “typical mass commercial cocktail” where he will once again play a cop after Saamy. Devi Sri Prasad will provide music for the film.

Actress Anushka Shetty speaks about herself

Anushka while speaking about her said,” I was born in Mangalore and brought up in Bangalore. I have studied BCA in the famous Mount Carmel College were lot of heroines studied. Many are thinking my nickname is Sweetie. It is wrong. My real name itself is Sweetie Shetty.

I have changed my name as Anushka for cinema. I learnt Yoga to teach others. But the Telugu director who came to my yoga class made me a heroine. My yoga master is Bharath Thakur. I am not fond of jewels. I will not wear jewels. But for the film Arundhathi I had to wear 12 kilos of jewels. My mother seeing me with jewels was very happy.

I am getting lot of offers because of my personality and height but I always thought that I should have been little shorter. My next Telugu film is being produced by my make-up man. He was doing make-up for so many years and when he requested me to act, I readily agreed.

I have the habit of noting down the interesting proverbs and quotes and whenever I am depressed I read this and get rejuvenated. I am a lonely person. I can stay in my room for the whole day alone. I do cardio exercises for 40 minutes and yoga afterwards. After 8 I will not eat. In the night I have early dinner. This is my fitness style.

I interviewed Thamanna for a TV channel and we became very close. I am very fond of vegetarian foods but I can cook good non vegetarian dishes. Whenever I get time I go to Bangalore where I run my own restaurant.”

Sameera ‘hottie’ Reddy was in Chennai recently to shoot for Gautham Menon’s next flick and she had a taste of a thriller when most of the shooting was done at night. She enjoyed them even though she is not a night bird she admitted.

Gautham’s quickie is an edge-of-the-seat thriller and Sameera plays a character called Sukanya. On the recent controversy on her not being a member of Nadigar Sangam to do films in Tamil Sameera clarifies that registering with the Nadigar Sangam was the first thing she did when she got her first offer in Kollywood. She says she is a member of Nadigar Sangam even before her first mega success ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’.

On the personal front Sameera is still single and the pretty babe feels the status of being single is very boring at the moment. That’s some food for thought.

Neetu Chandra: I am not happy with my personal life

Neetu Chandra is worried a lot about the way her personal life has changed after stepping into the tinsel town. “I find it difficult to walk freely on the road. My personal life has gone for a toss,” she says.

The bombshell, who says she knew these things would happen and was ready for it, adds: “But somehow I feel uneasy when people recognise me when I walk on the road. I have lost my freedom, if I am right.”

Introduced by Priyadarshan in his Hindi film ‘Garam Masala’, Neetu has so far acted in 11 films in Hindi, three in Telugu and two in Tamil -‘Yavarum Nalam’ and ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’. And now, she has more offers in her bag.

“I am there in four upcoming Hindi films. I am eagerly waiting to do a challenging role in a Tamil movie. Recently, I have done a dance number with director Ameer for ‘Yutham Sei’, directed by Mysskin,” she adds.

Mani Ratnam and wife Suhasini have been conducting special shows for their close family and friends. And in this list joined Rajnikanth, who has a longstanding association with Mani’s family.

Endhiran audio launch is July 18th

The audio launch of Endhiran will take place on July 18th. This is a strong indication that the film is gearing up for a release sooner than expected. Endhiran is a very high budget movie, which is being produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Shankar. The film has Rajinikanth pairing up with the former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the first time, which has created a lot of expectations among the fans. AR Rahman’s music is another highlight.

Saranya Mohan to play Vijay's sister role in Velayudham

Saranya Mohan is going to play Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s sister in his new Jayam Raja directed Velayudham.

This Malayalee girl rocked as heroine in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, and became popular all over Tamil Nadu by doing a jewellery ad with Prabhu playing her father.

Now playing Vijay’s sister will give her a new reach. The underlining sentiments in Velayudham is Thangachi Paasam (sister sentiments), an ingredient which has worked big time for Vijay in Tirupachi.

In the Perarasu film another Malayalee girl Malika played Vijay’s sister, and got a lot of recognition.

Meanwhile the buzz is that in Velayudham, which has Genelia and Hansika as two heroines, the pivot around which the film revolves will be Saranya Mohan’s sister role. Recently along with the two leading ladies, Saranya took part in the photo-shoot.

Suhani connection with drug peddlers

Telugu actress Suhani has acted in many Telugu films and is also currently acting in few Tamil films including Appavi and Siva Shiva. Now there is news that Suhani has connection with drug peddlers.

She debuted in the films as a child star and has grown up to be an actress. She is very popular in Telugu films. Suhani’s friend was recently arrested for possessing drugs. When the Narcotics Police was enquiring the person, he said that he has connection with Suhani.

Now the police are gathering evidence to arrest her. It seems that she is likely to be arrested within a day or two because she has connections with drug dealers. Suhani has the habit of drinking and smoking.

There is also news that she is in habit of taking cocaine in the night clubs. But Suhani’s parents have denied this and say that their daughter is innocent and that she has no connection with the drug dealers.

Raavan(an) 80 percent of the shows sold out on the first day of booking

First the good news, Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan has taken a mind blowing opening in advance booking, when it opened in 16 Chennai screens today (June 16) morning!

Tickets for all shows in multiplexes have been sold out for the first week, while in single screens like Bharath, I Dream it has been equally good.

Maayajal is the only multiplex in India who are playing all three versions of the film. They are holding a record 50 shows of the film per day- Raavanan (45 shows), Raavan (5 shows) and Villain (2 shows). Says Meenakshi Sundaram, Manager of Maayajal: “ The booking for Raavanan is phenomenal, nearly 80 percent of the shows have been sold out on the first day of booking.”

Meanwhile Mani Ratnam held a special screening of Raavan for its crew and family members in Mumbai on Monday night. Next day the crew left for the London premiere of the film, which will be telecast live on NDTV tonight at 10.30 pm.

The big news in Chennai is that the first official preview of Tamil Raavanan was held on Tuesday night at Four Frames Preview theatre for the family members of AR Rahman (who is away on a world tour). Rahman’s mother and other family members seem to have loved the movie.

Now the bad news is that the monsoons have hit Kerala, coastal Karnataka and Mumbai and by today evening Delhi. Please note Mumbai and Delhi are major markets for Mani Ratnam’s Hindi Raavan, and rains can ruin box-office. So the trade is keeping its fingers crossed.

Krishna says that he learn a lot of things from Katradhu Kazhavu movie

After Ali Baba, Krishna has acted in the film Katradhu Kazhavu. When asked about his experiences in this film and his next project, he said,” I had different kind of experiences while working in Ali Baba as well as Katradhu Kazhavu. I was able to learn a lot of things about cinema while acting in Katradhu Kazhavu.

I was able to act friendly because the team was youngsters. I am not very selective about the films which have action and comedy. I am giving importance to stories which have action, romance and sentiments. I have never tried to become an action hero.

I should be there in a good story. I am selecting such films. I will act when the time comes in my brother Vishnuvardhan film. I have just begun to run. Talks are going on with regard to me act in two films to be produced by big banners.

Divya Spandana is the reason for the Singam Puli movie delay

Jiiva’s Singam Puli, in which he plays a dual role for the first time in his career, is delayed. Enquiries in Kollywood reveal that one of the two heroines of this film Divya Spandana is the major reason for this. Apparently, a major portion of Singam Puli has been shot but scenes involving Divya remains to be canned. The actress seems to have call sheet issues and sorting it out will take some time, we hear.

The movie is directed by Sai Ramani. Mani Sharma has scored the music for Singam Puli.

Hansika and Genelia's role in Velayudham

The groundwork for Vijay’s next film Velayudham, which is produced by Aascar Ravichandran, is on. The film’s director Jayam Raja has the script ready so that he could begin this project once Vijay completes Kaavalkaran.

It is not a secret anymore that Velayudham is a remake of the Telugu smash hit Azad, which had Nagarjuna, Soundarya and Shilpa Shetty playing the lead roles. The buzz now is that Genelia will play Soundarya’s role, which happens to be that of a journalist in Velayudham. Needless to say that Shilpa Shetty’s role has been bagged by Hansika. The music for this film is being scored by Devi Sri Prasad.

Raavanan is Trouble in Bangalore

Mani Ratnam’s eagerly awaited Raavanan in Tamil will not be releasing in any multiplex screens in Bangalore! In Bangalore city the film will only be screened in seven single screens!

Reliance Big Pictures, who are marketing the film have been told by Karnataka Film Chamber (KFC), that they can treat Raavan and Raavanan as one film, and not two. Suhasini Mani Ratnam, one of the producers of the film had even provided proof that both the Hindi and Tamil versions are two negatives, but KFC remains adamant.

The KFC is very clear that only Kannada films can release in any number of screens and Other Language Films (OLF) can only release in a maximum of 24 screens. So in case of Raavan, Raavanan and Villain will have to be screened in 24 screens in the state. Since Bollywood is bigger in Karnataka, Raavan will release in 16 screens in Bangalore multiplexes (ticket prices are higher, so more revenue), while Raavanan will play in 7 single screens and Villain in one single screen.

It is bad news for Raavanan and Tamil fans of Mani Ratnam and Vikram, as the film cannot be screened at the multiplexes, which forms the bulk of their viewership.

Meanwhile the official count is that 550 screens worldwide will be screening the Tamil Raavanan, with nearly 300 of them in Tamil Nadu. The film just looking at the number of screens is sure to take a very big opening.

Sheela say Glamour is the path of success in cinema

Sheela said that since there is a stiff competition only you can win if there is glamour. While speaking about this Sheela said,” I have acted in four Tamil films. After this I did not get many offers. But Telugu films gave me hand.

I have so far acted in 10 films. The film Adoor in which I have acted is a big hit. Many are asking me that whether I am expecting films that have scope for acting or I am expecting glamour roles. As far as Telugu films are concerned I am getting glamour roles only. I am accepting them.

There are lots of competitions in cinema world. If you want to win one should be ready to of glamour roles. I am also waiting for a good opportunity in Tamil film. I am donning the role of a popular actress in a Malayalam film Makeup Man which has Prithviraj and Jayaram in the lead roles.”

Sameera Reddy: My Vaaranam Aayiram role is better than Ajith’s Asal movie role

Sameera Reddy has made a daring statement! She has reportedly told some press reporters that her fans appreciated her role in the Suriya starrer Vaaranam Aayiram better than Ajith’s Asal. According to the actress, though her role in VA, as Meghna, was very minimal, her fans had liked it and admired it. Sameera adds that she intends to work in projects that offer her such roles rather than go on a signing spree.

The actress is currently working in a Gautham Menon project, which remains to be titled and has a couple of other language films.

A.R. Rahman's Jai Ho Concert

Oscar and Grammy-winner A.R. Rahman's highly-anticipated 'A.R. Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour' was witnessed by thousands of fans in New York, Atlantic City and Virgina in USA recently. Rahman even has a surprise guest! Kylie Minogue.

Kylie and Rahman performed 'Chiggy Wiggy', a track from the film Blue that released last Diwali. After about 24,000 people saw the show in three days, the show is now moving across America, Canada and London.

“I know you are all excited to share pictures and videos from the concert. We are going to release a DVD of the concert later this year. Please keep the surprise and excitement alive for the remaining cities on the tour,” Rahman revealed after the concert.

The concert, produced by Deepak Gattani from Rapport Productions, will travel to over 20 major arenas and cities worldwide. During this period, he will have live concerts in USA, Canada, Netherlands, France, Norway, and UK, covering the cities of New York, Atlantic City, Washington DC, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Amsterdam, Paris, Oslo, Glasgow, Manchester and London.

Well-known choreographer-director Amy Tinkham, who has worked on the live musical concerts of pop icons Paul McCartney, Madonna, Britney Spears, Dixie Chicks and Motley Crue, has teamed up for the tour. The live concert will be a theatrical experience that will blend new technologies with dance arrangements and acrobatics. It will feature changing sets, large images and a cast of musicians and dancers from across the globe.

Manmadhan Ambu shooting processed Paris

Kamal Hassan and Trisha are shooting in Paris for KS Ravikumar directed Manmadhan Ambu, from Friday.

Trisha twittered – “Paris is beautifuuulll...Les champs élysées, le louvre, le tour Eiffel, le notre dame......sigh....the city of looveee....blessed to be here”. She says it is the best time of the year to be in Paris.

Meanwhile Amitabh Bachchan who is in Paris had sent a sms to Kamal inviting him for his recital of his father’s poems in Paris. Kamal is trying to take a break from his busy schedule and attend the poetry session hosted by Big B.

Rajinikanth's Endhiran expectation in Dubai

Earlier, there were reports that Kollywood's master film-maker S. Shankar's forthcoming science fiction film Endhiran, starring superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead roles, will grace theatres in August. But the latest buzz is that the film will grace theatres only in September due to delay in completing post production works.

Meanwhile, producer Sun Pictures are planning a grand audio launch in Dubai two weeks prior to its release. The audio launch will reportedly be a grand affair, the first of its kind in Tamil cinema.

Endhiran (also spelt as Enthiran) brings back the famous duo of Superstar Rajinikanth and director Shankar after their blockbuster Sivaji the boss. The movie will also see Aishwarya Rai after a long gap in Tamil paired opposite our superstar. Endhiran is also special for its choreography by Prabhu Deva. Lyrics by Vairamuthu, art direction by Sabu Cyril and cinematography by Ratnavelu comprise a regular Shankar team. The director has also roped in Oscar winner Resul Pookutty for sound effects; it is also said that a unique sound effect has been created for the film.

Ajith's 50 th Movie Heroin is Samantha

With so much being talked about the proposed Ajith - Gautham Menon flick, the movie is also showing signs of going on the floors. Last heard on the script front, the movie will have Ajith playing double roles - one that of a cop and the other a villain. The movie is already speculated to be a cop movie and with this added piece of information, looks like it will be an action movie as well.

Earlier it was said Sameera Reddy will play the female lead but now we hear that Samantha, who played Trisha's role in the Telugu version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa will be signed up. More details awaited.

Naan Mahan Alla will release in August

Guess the hottest movie in the Kollywood trade? It is Karthi’s new Susindran directed Naan Mahan Alla, produced by Gjnavel Raja of Studio Green.

Hot and happening Karthi ,after the stupendous success of Paiyaa and Susindran following his critically acclaimed hit Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu are coming together for the first time in the film which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Everybody in tinsel town wants to buy this film with an old Rajinikanth title. The latest we hear is that the entire shoot of the film which has Karthi and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead is complete and the film will release in August.

After his superb performances in Pasanga and Nadodigal, Jayaprakash plays the role of Karthi’s father. The film is about father- son bonding and how a happy youngster due to certain circumstances has to go through a difficult situation.

Dhyanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine is the likely front runner to snap up Naan Mahan Alla, said to be a an entertainer with a difference.

Raavanan hindi Raavan relelases in USA

Big Cinemas, a subsidiary of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group-led Reliance MediaWorks, will be the distributor of Mani Ratnam's Tamil and Telugu versions of his much-awaited Raavan (Hindi) in USA.

Titled Raavanan in Tamil and Villain in Telugu, the film will be released in approximately 40 screens across 30 cities in the US, besides 190 Big Cinemas US screens across 20 cities.

Reliance MediaWorks CEO Anil Arjun said: "There is a vast audience for regional Indian cinema outside India and particularly in the US. We are dedicated to bring these quality regional Indian language films to new markets where the audience waits to be entertained."

"Additionally, by building our own international infrastructure of cinemas, we are showing our commitment to these niche markets which we expect will deliver strong growth in the near future," he added. The film is all set to hit screens across the globe on June 18.
