Angadi Theru movie releses on Pongal

Ayngaran International has decided to take a gamble and release their long delayed Vasantha Balan directed Angadi Theru for Pongal.
After his critically acclaimed Veyil was screened at the Cannes in 2007, a lot is expected from Vasantha Balan’s new film.
The film has newcomers in the lead. Mahesh, a volley ball player, makes his debut as hero opposite Katradhu Thamizh fame Anjali, with director A Venkatesh playing a pivotal role. Sneha has done a cameo in the film.
The film's dialogues are written by the famous novelist Jayamohan, and music is by G V Prakash. In an earlier interview Vasantha Balan had said: "Angadi Theruvu has emotions, love and a lot of human feelings. Just like every house has a tale to tell, so does every street, hence the title.”
Ayngaran International, one of the leading production houses is looking at around 100 screens in Tamil Nadu to release the film. It has potential to be a sleeper hit.

Cold war between Lakshmi Rai and Padmapriya

It seems there is cold war between Lakshmi Rai and Padmapriya. Both of them had a clash in the sets of Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam with regard to who is talented.

Simbhu Devan who had earlier directed Imsai Arasan which had Vadivelu in the lead is directing this film. Lawrence is doing the lead role. This film is a cowboy story. All the actors and actresses are adorning cowboy costumes.
Padmapriya and Lakshmi Rai are also starring in this film. Both of them were constantly telling that they are the heroines of this film. This statement has led to difference of opinion between them. So, both of them had almost tortured the director by telling him that their role should have more significance.
The director was really in a tough position to compromise them. Padmapriya had remarked, “The whole country who have seen Mirugam, Thavamai Thavamirundhu and Pokkisham knows about my acting skill. Can she act like me?” This remark had reached the ears of Lakshmi Rai.
She got wild and quipped that she was more talented than Padmapriya. But somehow Simbhu Devan was able to keep the situation under control and has successfully completed the shooting. It is also important to note that Sandhya is also one of the heroines in this film.
The cold war between the two was very much felt during the audio launch of this film. Lakshmi Rai use to come in glamorous dress for these kinds of functions. In order to contend with her Padmapriya for the first time came in glamorous attire.

Preference of Kamal Hassan's daughter Shruti Haasan

Shruti Kamal Haasan says that she would concentrate on music rather than acting. The one-film-old actress, who made her acting debut with the Bollywood film Luck, prefers to wield the music baton rather than donning the greasepaint.

The lady had recently conducted a music show in Chennai and her performance with the Maharashtrian group was well received. Shruti says that she would work with several talent teams in India and will not stick to her band.

It is to be noted that Shruti composed music for the Kamal-Mohanlal-starrer Unnaipol Oruvan

Poonam Bajwa's interview while Thambikottai shooting

Bajwa who had acted in Thennavattu and Seval is currently busy in Droghi, Katcheri Arambam and Thambikottai. She gave a mini interview while shooting for Thambikottai. About yourself?

My mother Jaya’s native place is Bangalore. My father Amarjeet belongs to Mumbai. I was born and brought up in Mumbai. I have a sister by name Deepika. I wanted to  do journalism. But by accident I came to cinema. I have acted in five Telugu films. I have acted in two Tamil films and in one Kannada film. On the whole I have acted in eight films so far.
What are the films you are currently acting?
Manirathnam’s assistant Sudha is directing a film titled Droghi. She gave me the script six months back itself. It was a new experience working with her. Since she is a woman director she has minutely recorded the feelings of women. Vishnu who acted in Venilla Kabadi Kuzhu is pairing with me.
I am acting with Jeeva once again in the film Katcheri Arambam. Director Thiraivannan has given me a scope for acting in this film. Since there is a lot of understanding between Jeeva and me there will a healthy competition. In Thambikottai I am pairing with Narain. I am donning the role of a village girl. Director Ammu Ramesh has done a good script.
Will you act in glamour roles?
I will not act in cheap glamour roles. I have my own limitations. There should not be obscenity while doing glamour roles.

2009 best Actress in Kollywood

In Tamil films, where heroes are either super humans or superstars, there is no place for talented actresses. Heroines are just used to add glamour to the film.
Last year, the woman-centric film Poo gave Parvathy ample opportunity to showcase her talent. But this year, we only have Ananda Thandavam, where the heroine is the mainstay of the film.
Here are the actresses who have really impressed us this year.

Tamanna

Films: Ayan, Kanden Kathalai, Ananda Thandavam

Undoubtedly, 2009 belonged to Tamann. From the way filmmakers are lining up behind her, she will be the most sought after actress in 2010 as well.
The top slot, which was vacant when Asin shifted to Bollywood and Nayantara to Telugu cinema, has now been taken over by Tamannah. With Ayan -- the biggest hit of 2009 -- Tamannah has truly arrived.
The superhit was followed by the Tamil remake of Jab We Met, Kanden Kathalai. Tamannah made the character her own, and no one compared her to Jab We Met heroine Kareena Kapoor.
But she was the most impressive in Ananda Thandavam, the film adaptation of Sujatha's novel Pirivom Sandipom. As Madhumita, Tamannah showed that she could be innocent and cunning at the same time. It was the best performance of the year.

Devayani returns to Kollywood

After ruling the small screen with her hit serial Kolangal, Devayani is now looking at making a comeback on the big screen.

If you had missed that lustrous complexion and endearing coy smile, then the wait is over now. Sources say that the actress is quite busy in listening to around five scripts from directors. She has taken the decision to return as her friends and well wishers want her back. Devayani is determined to focus on on character oriented subjects.

From a teeny-weeny girl in fluttering skirts, to a sari-clad, demure heroine, to a woman with grit and gumption, Devayani has always won our hearts. we wishes her the best and hopes the 2010 will be a great time for her acting career.

J K Sanjith done the powerful villain role

J K Sanjith was one of the villains in Vijay starrer Vettaikaran. While speaking to the media he said,” I am currently acting in Vijay starrer Sura and Raavan directed by Manirathnam.

I am donning the role of a powerful villain in the film Sura. Though I have earlier acted in many films, only Vettaikaran brought me to lime light. I want to succeed by doing villain roles. There are lots of opportunities to bring out the acting skills by doing villain roles.
Many are asking me whether I am not interested in hero roles. Everybody likes to do hero roles. I want to prove my acting skills by donning villain roles and after succeeding I will turn towards hero roles. Only if you have talent one can remain in the cine field. Because of this I am taking lot of efforts.”
