Gautham Menon and Trisha make magic again in VTV hindi remake

Trisha is getting ready for her role in the remake of the Tamil blockbuster Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa in Hindi. Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, VTV enchanted the audience with its music and the sizzling hot on-chemistry between Trisha and Silambarasan. In fact, the pair is being touted as one of the best on-screen couple in Kollywood. Though Trisha had earlier performed a variety of roles, her oh-so-lovely character as Jesse in VTV was her best effort till date and earned applause from fans and critics as well.

With her latest movie Khatta Meetha with Akshay Kumar having a decent opening, all eyes in Bollywood are on this pretty damsel. To be paired opposite Prateek Babbar, son of veteran actor Raj Babbar, we all wonder if Gautham will be able to create the same magic on screen as he did in VTV. Prateek Babbar has already won the Filmfare Special Jury Award for 'Outstanding Performance' for his role in Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na in 2009. So we will wait and see how the chemistry of this pair sizzles on the silver screen.

Cheran speaks about Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya movie

Director-actor Cheran said that Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya was a not a crowd-puller during the first week of its release. Speaking at the audio launch of Virundaali, Cheran said that Gautham Menon was concerned that VTV would be thrown out of the theatres with not enough crowds pouring in during the first week. However, word of mouth from the audience had pushed the film to an astounding success. Cheran rued that if theatre owners decide to pack off a film within a short time, then it is the filmmakers who would suffer. He added that movie buffs will also miss a chance to see these films in theaters and opt for DVDs.

Reacting to this, the Producers’ Council president Rama Narayanan said that plans are afoot to form a commission to discuss such issues.

K. Balachander is impressed by Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya

Gautham Menon's Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa mesmerizes the pillar of Kollywood – K. Balachander. Extremelly impressed by VTV, the director has written an open letter to Gautham Menon comparing him with the legends like S.S. Vasan, Av. Meyappa Chettiar, Bharathi Raja and Mani Ratnam.
“The last film of yours that I saw was Varanam Aayiram. And I realized that you too are a believer who believed in himself and his craft! You showed in your own signature way that your pen is mightier than the sword - or gun - or pistol - or karate or whatever form of violence that is in vogue with which ever stunt master is currently in fashion!”
“I saw a film maker who translated his imagination into celluloidal paintings. I saw a film maker who did not underestimate the intelligence or the comprehension of his viewers. I saw a film maker who believed that human emotions can be translated visually and at the end of the that it is relationship that makes human life significant and meaningful. I saw a film maker who wanted to make a film for posterity and not for a specified time and taste span,” he described in his letter.
He further added, “Yesterday, I saw your Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. I saw after a very long time – characters became people instead of caricatures. I saw a control over narration and performance which left me stunned. I saw frame after beautiful frame, composition after bewitching shot composition, that conveyed in every running foot, in every fleeting second, the conviction and the confidence that you has as much in your story as in your cast and crew.”
“It was a heart-warming, heart wrenching film, stunningly visual, soaringly musical and compellingly straightforward and uncomplicatedly honest. This 80 years old man was pondering on the way back home after watching your film if he could tell his 75 years old wife "I LOVE YOU" to see whether she can still blush."
“Convey my heart felt regards to Simbu and Trisha for their best performances of their careers,” he concluded.

Trisha, all set to begin shooting for her Bollywood debut Khatta Meetha, made a flying visit to Chennai to meet her family before the shoot starts. She returned from New York where she was shooting with Simbu for Gautham Menon's Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. Now she is in Mumbai for Priyadarshan's film.

Though Trisha has not dubbed for her Tamil and Telugu films, she floored Akshay Kumar when she was able to converse with him in fluent Hindi. Looks like she is taking her debut very seriously and is preparing to dub for her Hindi films. Way to go Trisha!
