There were gossips that ‘Endhiran’ would have a few scenes made in 3D but camera man Rathnavel informed before the release of the movie that the 3D version wasn’t really a viable option as it was time consuming as well as a burden to few theatre owners because they would have to install 3D screens.

Well looks like the English version is sure to happen along with the 3D footage. Off late the 3D trend is on an upswing in Hollywood and Indian cinema is not behind! And Superstar Rajinikanth will have an increased fan base after the English release!

Endhiran box office record collections

"Enthiran" (Robot), the costliest Bollywood sci-fi film creates large waves in Indian box offices with a record opening weekend collection. The film that features Indian film icons like Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Buchan has been received by roaring viewers in theaters across the country.

According to analysts, Enthiran, first complete sci-fi film in India, has amassed up 950 million rupees ($21 million) in its first weekend in theaters. This count is a record in the Bollywood film industry. The film was made of $35 million. Analysts hope that Enthiran will further collect $28 million through ticket sales in India.

"In the opening weekend, all the three versions of Robot have together collected 950 million rupees (21 million dollars), the highest-ever in India," a Bollywood trade analyst said.

Enthiran is taken by the iconic Indian director Shankar, well-known director of 'Sivaji'. It narrates the story of romance between a robot and a girl. A robot called Chitti, which was injected with human emotion and feeling hormones, begins to love its creator's girlfriend.

South Indian film giant Rajinikanth plays roles of the robot and its scientist creator. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, former Miss World champion appears in the role of his girlfriend. Fans of Rajinikanth and Aishwarya received Enthiran in Chennai and Mumbai with a worshipping mind.

In Chennai, home place of the 60-year-old Rajinikanth, his fans welcomed screening of Enthiran pouring milk over his large cutout poster in a theater. As well in Mumbai, Bollywood's hometown people received Enthiran with large growls and ecstasy.

News 2:

Rajinikanth film Endhiran box office collection cross all previous records in North America & Europe

Mumbai: When Rajnikanth starrer Endhiran was released in Tamil Nadu it was a huge hit. Just in a few days time hundreds and thousands of fans turned up at theatres to watch their superstar perform. It turned out to be a blockbuster. The fever spread to other South Indian states too with an overwhelming response.

It was expected to sweep all over India in week. But that has not happened so. The sci-fi mega budget Robot has failed to click. The Hindi version of the hit movie in South has been released in north India as Robot. Looking at its performance in South India, many movie analysts had predicted it to be a huge hit in North India also.

But reports have surfaced that the film has lost out to another Hindi movie Anjaana Anjaani. The romance filled movie starring Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has been appreciated by north Indian viewers.

The audience in this region has opted for the young romance saga. But this is not something unexpected. South Indian actors have rarely clicked in Bollywood. When Rajnikanth established himself as a super star he landed in Bollywood to test his mettle.

Save a few film, Rajnikanth was unable to give a hit. That is why after sometime he went back to South. And there he once again established himself as the most popular star. This happened with Kamal Hasan also a talented South Indian actor.

In the initial weekend itself, Anjaana Anjaani has earned around Rs.260 million. On the other hand Robot that has Aishwarya Rai grossed Rs.70 million. But in the southern region, Endhiran that is also known as Robot has broken all records. Till now it has earned Rs.1 billion. And it is still going strong.

Shahrukh Khan has rattled by Rajin and his Robot

The message is on the wall. Rajinikanth’s ‘Endhiran’ and ‘Robot’ have changed the dynamics in Bollywood. Shahruk Khan who feels for the missed opportunity to have done ‘Robot’ in place of Rajinikanth is holding closed door meetings to make his upcoming film ‘Ra.One’, a step above ‘Endhiran-The Robot’.

SRK has realized that the audience would be expecting from him some thing more than ‘Robot’ now. So he is burning some midnight oil to contemplate the differences he had to make with his film.

‘Ra.One’ is also a sci-fi super hero film. Lately, sources say, Shahruk Khan had called his creative team including the director Anubhav Sinha and sound engineer Resul Pookutty to his house and discussed the changes that need to be made so that ‘Ra.One’ comes very close to ‘Endhiran - The Robot’ in size and stature.

According to sources, the new film of SRK will now be a gaming movie while retaining the emotional quotients and the drama. They further say that the movie is being designed in such a way that the audience will be able to participate in the film and play the ‘Ra.One’ game at the climax. This kind of participatory film is a first of its kind, we guess.

All said and done what ever happens in the name of competitions it is all good for Indian cinema. If Indian cinema grows the ultimate beneficiaries are the audience. So we welcome this healthy competition. All the best SRK!

Hundred Rajnis in one film!

Finally, the Superstar of Kollywood is back on screen after three years with Shankar's Enthiran, which is a true treat for frenzied fans of action. And this robot is really different from his earlier avatars; in fact Rajinikanth's silent introduction comes as a surprise factor to many!

What makes the film top class is it's brilliant climax sequence, where hundreds of Rajnis (bionic army of Robot Rajni) engage in a war against human beings and of course the extraordinary special effects gives it a Hollywood touch. Interestingly, the climax fight with the bionic army of Chittis has some innovative graphics and moves – the biggest and most truly watchable gimmicks.

Enthiran seems to be the biggest Diwali gift for any Rajni fan; thousands of people have been lingering around cinema theatres today to catch the first day, first show of their super hero.

In fact, the celebrations began at 5 a.m. when many fans prayed and performed 'Paal abisekhams' on Rajni's posters. The fans also danced their way through the theatre to celebrate the release of the film.

Now that is truly spectacular!

For years, it wasn’t just for Shankar, but for his fans as well, who had been curiously looking upon his dream project ‘Enthiran’. Nearly before 10 years, Kamal Haasan and Preity Zinta were supposed to be the part of this film later following Shankar approaching Shah Rukh Khan in the Hindi make. At last, the expectations went higher and higher as the film was to be made with Superstar Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The biggest brands – Superstar, Aishwarya Rai, A.R. Rahman, Shankar, Sun Pictures was more than enough to sell the product and finally the big day arrives in a much grander way.

So, how does the film work out? Does it live up to our expectations?

Definitely, it exceeds our expectations as this is something far beyond brilliance in the career of everyone in this film. For sure, this will be the greatest milestone for Shankar, Superstar Rajnikanth, A.R. Rahman and other technicians. The film doesn’t boast of usual Rajnikanth stuffs as there are no introduction songs with group dancers and grand music.

Rajnikanth is shown in a simple way as Dr Vaseegaran busy working on a project of launching a new humanoid Robot… After days and months of backbreaking research and hard work, a new robot comes into existence. It is a multi-faceted Robot ‘Chitti’ (again played by Rajnikanth) that looks identical as Vaseegaran. The Robot becomes the heartthrob of all young gals and hero for guys, savior for the needy ones and indeed makes headlines. The Robot is to be examined through an association of senior scientists (one of them is Danny Denzongpa, Dr. Vaseegaran’s mentor). It gets rejected to be utilized for various major developmental projects that includes military defense, because it lacks the sense of cognizance of differentiating the good from bad and moreover, the ‘emotions’.

Instantly, Dr. Vaseegaran starts working on the ‘emotional quotients’ and finally implants the program that instigates the emotions in Robot.

But the mission is unaccomplished as the speculative pop as Robot starts inheriting the traits of human emotions. Apparently, Robot falls in love with Dr. Vaseegaran’s girlfriend Sana (Aishwarya Rai).

Hats off to director Shankar as he tries elevating the standard of Tamil cinema with ‘Enthiran’…. Not alone because of technical aspects, but he has completely changed his narrative style. Say for instance, the hero introduction of Rajnikanth is same as a Hollywood film. But the introduction scene of ‘Chitti Robot’ wins the claps and whistles. The way he dances for the Birthday Party song along with Aishwarya Rai is mind-boggling and his fight sequences in train is awesome. He gets awestricken with his overpowering performance during second half, especially the last 30mins is terrific. Wow! This man looks so invigorated and enthusiastic. The dialogue he utters during the climax sequence of blaming human race is fantabulous. Aishwarya Rai looks beautiful than before and her dancing in ‘Irumbile’ is tremendous. Danny Denzongpa as the villain does justice to his role, but we can term his characterization as to be a catalyst rather than a villain. Santhanam and Karunaas haven’t got much to do with the film.

Musical score by A.R. Rahman is fantastic and the background score during last 30mins is over-the-top and cinematography by Rathinavelu is decorous.

On the whole, ‘Enthiran’ is a must watch movie that has every element of entertainment and of course, the newly tailored experience for the universal fans. This is the first sci-fi thriller in the history of Indian Cinema and we are sure there wouldn’t be any other movie such grander as this one. It’s a must watch movie for 6yrs old kid to 80yrs old persons.

Enthiran every dialogue as a punch dialogue

Enthiran6

After weeks of flashy trailers, ads and news reports, Superstar Rajinikanth's Enthiran (Robot in Telugu and Hindi) will grace theatres tomorrow. With Rajni in a double role (scientist and robot), Aishwarya Rai adding a dash of entertainment, not to mention A.R. Rahman's thumping music, Enthiran has raised expectations to almost breaking-point. And whether director Shankar's most-anticipated venture satisfies those expectations, that is the public to see and judge. The film has already graced theatres in some parts of the world.

Here are few titbits about the film, from our sources in Dubai's Hyatt Gallerie theatre!

>>> The film is a never-seen-before spectacle on screen! People who have already seen the film feel that Enthiran is just like an Hollywood action flick in terms of quality and content.

>>> There are no punch dialogues as such, but all the dialogues of superstar are quick, witty and crisp!

>>> In Enthiran, Rajni plays a dual role: that of a scientist (Vaseegaran) and a robot. And it looks like the audience are more attracted towards the robot, though it appears only in a few scenes.

Watch this space for more titbits about Enthiran.

Super star's ‘Endhiran’ changes rules in Sandalwood

The super star film ‘Endhiran’ has put Kannada film industry in affix over the number of theaters to be allotted for the mega film.

While all the nitty-gritty in the release of ‘Endhiran’ is being finalised to perfection around the world, the Karnataka film industry is yet undecided on a few things. The Karnataka rights for ‘Endhiran’ have been sold to three distributors at a collective price of Rs. 8.50 crores which is the total business made by an original Kannada block buster film.

Considering the huge cost and the anticipation of the masses over the film the three distributors of ‘Endhiran’ have requested the Karnataka Film Chamber to allow screening ‘Endhiran’ in more than 24 screens in all languages.

Karnataka Film Chamber had earlier passed a dictate restricting a film not to be allowed in more than 24 screens at a time. When ‘Raavanan’ was released earlier the same issue was discussed. The producers of ‘Raavanan’ argued it is a three language film and so each language should be allotted 24 screens each.

The ‘Endhiran’ distributors are demanding more than 60 screens for Tamil and Telugu versions. Meanwhile the Hindi version ‘Robot’ may also land up in the hands of the same people with an additional payment of Rs. 1.5 crores.

Rajinikanth’s earlier super hit ‘Sivaji’ was sold for Rs.2.5 crores to HD Gangaraju former KFCC President for Karnataka. When compared the price for ‘Endhiran’ is almost four times of ‘Sivaji’. So the distributors are in talks with theatre owners to increase the ticket rate across the state.

By initial estimates a Rs.75 ticket in Bangalore may go up to Rs.200 it is reliably learnt. The highest Gold Class in PVR Multiplex that costs Rs.500 in normal cases would go up to Rs.3000 according to sources.

Tell us where in the world ‘Endhiran’ has not created the ripples before the release.

Why not Endhiran 3D version?

Asserting that there were plans to go for a 3D version of 'Endhiran' initially, cinematographer of the mega budget film Rathnavel has said the idea had to be dropped due to various reasons.

"One of the reasons behind giving up the idea was theatre owners would have to change their screens for the 3D version. Besides the fact that the process could cost them much, it is also a time consuming factor", he said.

The cameraman, who is popularly called as Randy, added: "In addition to that, many in Hollywood are not happy about the 2D to 3D conversion process. So we had no other option than dropping the idea".

On working with Superstar Rajinikanth, he said, "His hard work and dedication amazed me a lot. He was like a fresher on the sets of ‘Endhiran’, doing whatever the director wanted him to do. In a word, he is the Superstar".

Abhishek Bachchan has completed 10 years in cine field

Abhishek Bachchan completed a decade in his acting career. His debut in the film industry was with Refugee (2000), which failed to make much impact. In the following years, the actor starred in 13 movies, but none created a niche for him in Bollywood. Abhishek began to get noticed for his roles in Dhoom and Yuva and his career took off from then. Now, he is one of the most sought-after actors in the national scene. The Bachchan family is planning to celebrate his 10 years in cinema with a mega event inviting key figures in the movie industry. The last time the Bachchans were in a festive mood was three years ago when Abhishek got married to Aishwarya Rai.
