Born into a family of music lovers and son of renowned Carnatic vocalists (the late Ananthasubramani and Alamelu), Hariharan's foray into the music world was never a chosen profession; it was ordained.
Today, Hariharan is a master in singing. His songs in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films have made him most popular. His music includes fusion music, thumris, bhajans, geet and ghazals.

ஐஸ்வர்யா ராய் நடித்துள்ள இப்படம் தமிழிலும் ரிலீசாகிறது. அந்த படத்தை புறக்கணிக்கவும், திரையிட விடாமல் தடுக்கவும் அவர்கள் திட்டமிட்டு உள்ளனர்.
இலங்கை சர்வதேச படவிழாவில் “ராவணன்” படத்தை திரையிடவும் திட்டமிடப்பட்டது. அது தற்போது கைவிடப்பட்டுள்ளதாக கூறப்படுகிறது.

annual Sujatha awards winners

Uyirmmai Publishing House and Sujatha Trust have announced the winners of the annual Sujatha awards last week. The awardees for 2010 under six categories are Kalapriya (Prose), Jayandan (short story), Ramesh Prethan (poetry), M. Kamuthirai (novel), Dr. G. Sivaraman (little magazine), Leka (internet). Writers Prapanjan, Indira Parthasarathy, Gnanakoothan, Vasanthi, Dilipkumar and S. Ramakrishnan were the members of the panel which selected the awardees. The award is a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and a citation.

The Sujatha award is to be presented at Deveneya Paavanar Arangam, 735, LLA building, Anna Salai) on 3rd May, which is the birth anniversary of writer Sujatha. Actor R. Parthiban, director Balu Mahendra, Prof. K. Gnanasambandan, writers Charu Niveditha, Tamizhachi Thangapandian, Manushya Puthiran and others are gracing the occasion. S.Ve. Shekar's Drama of life

S.Ve. Shekar, in association with Kodai Natakha Vizha, is all set to organise a series of Tamil dramas in Alwarpet at the Narada Gana Sabha from May 1 to 9. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting S. Jagathrakshakan will inaugurate the show along with Nalli Kuppusamy, Raja and Manilal. Interestingly, Sekhar's 5600th drama, titled Alva, will be staged on May 7, Chief Minister Karunanidhi and Stalin will be the chief guests.

Maina movie releases on this June

Prabhu Solomon’s ‘Maina’ is getting ready to chirp. The director, who is known for films like ‘King’, ‘Kokki’ and ‘Laadam’, says talkie portion of the movie is over and plans are on to release it in June.

“The film which has new faces Vidarth and Amala in lead roles and also has actor-director Thambi Ramaiah playing a pivotal role. There will be a new style of narration and the movie was shot in the forests of Kerala,” he says.

On the theme of the movie, Solomon says, “Love others like how you love yourself. This is the one-line of the story. We have built a beautiful script on this theme and canned it as a full-length film in an engrossing way.”

Describing D Imman’s musical score as one of the assets of ‘Maina’, the director adds: “The music composer has presented us beautiful songs by understanding the script well. We are planning to launch the audio next month.”

Comedy actor Benjamin turns a director

Comedy actor Benjamin who had acted in many films including Thirupachi is now becoming a director. He is also composing music for the film he is directing. Benjamin while speaking to the media said,” I have so far acted in more than 150 films in Tamil and Telugu languages.

I had come to cinema with the intention of becoming a director.  I joined as an assistant to K Balachandar. I have learnt lot of things from him. Moreover I was also acting in drama. Director Cheran seeing me acting in drama introduced me as a comedy actor in the film Vetri Kodi Kattu. After this I continued to act in films.

Currently I am acting in five films including Thirumandiram. I will be directing a film shortly. I will also be composing the music for this film. Saravanan who had acted in Paruthiveeran is doing the lead role in this film.

College student Manjunath from Coimbatore is writing the story. Konur Rajendran is writing the screenplay and dialogues. I am not acting in this film. Apart from acting I am also running an orchestra and dance troupe called Autograph Orchestra.

I have organized cultural programmes in Tamil Nadu as well as abroad. Because of this 40 families are living. I am interested in social work from my young age.  

With half of the money I earn, I help the poor and needy people. I will continue to do this charitable act as long as I live. So far I don’t have my own house, land or car. I am still living in a rented house.”

Siddarth speaks about Bala Pandiya movie

Siddarth who had worked as designer in more than 100 films has now become a director. He is directing a film titled Bala Pandiya. While speaking about Bale Pandiya, he said,” Pandiya is a pessimistic guy who always that nothing good will happen.

The decision he takes when he encounters a problem is illustrated in a comical way. We have used color therapy costume in this film. For example we have used red for anger and white color for peace. This will be much spoken about.

I wanted a hero who is not stuck up in any image. Vishnu who had acted in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fitted this role. He has acted in this film exceeding well. After seeing Poi Solla Porom, I selected Pia to do the female lead role. She has also acted well.

Amarendran and Gibran are the wonderful guys who I have introduced. Devan who is composing music for this film is my friend. When I was committed to this film, I wanted to introduce a new music composer.  

I asked Devan whether he knew anyone who can compose good music. He asked me whether he didn’t look like a music composer. He has composed good music. For a song which begins with a line Happy was written by Vaali. He has not used any instruments for this song but has used human voices as background music and made 20 singers to sing this song.”
