Captain TV will be launched on April 14

Popular Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth's 24 hour news and entertainment TV channel Captain TV, which had its logo launch on January 14, will be launched on April 14. The channel has already started its test run under the supervision of Vijayakanth’s brother-in-law and managing director of Captain Media L.S. Sudheesh.
"Captain TV will be a complete entertainment channel with the usual mix of movie-soaps-shows between Mondays to Fridays and limited dose of news. English movies with Tamil dubbing would be telecast on Saturdays and Sundays and latest Tamil movies on weekends. We will take our party’s policies to the public through the five news bulletins a day," Sudheesh said.
The Maran-owned Sun TV, Jaya TV owned by AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa, Makkal TV run by PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss, the DMK-run Kalaignar TV, Congress MP K.V.Thangkabalu's Mega TV and Vasanth TV owned by Congress legislator H. Vasanth Kumar are the leading players in Tamil TV.

Devayani, Meena spurn Vijaykanth's offer

Actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth is now adding one more feather to his hat. He is trying his hand at direction. Viruthagiri will mark his directorial debut. And while it has been decided to cast a new actress in the lead, word has it that Vijaykanth was keen on casting actresses Meena and Devayani in key supporting roles. However, claiming lack of dates, the two actresses politely declined the roles. Disappointed but not disheartened, Vijaykanth is busy hunting for other actresses who will suit the part and agree to shoot with him.
