Maanja Velu is in trouble

Arun Vijay’s Maanja Velu is in deep trouble with producer Dr. Kalidas filing a petition in the High Court of Madras to stay its release. The film is to hit the screens on May 21st and the High Court has issued a stay order till May 19th.

According to the petitioner, Arun Vijay had acted in Thunichal which was produced by him. But even after paying the full salary and the dubbing fee, the actor refused to dub for Thunichal citing various reasons. Following this, the film was released in just a few centers in Tamil Nadu as there were no takers.

The petitioner stated that since Arun Vijay did not lend his voice the movie flopped, due to which he incurred huge losses.

In his petition, Dr. Kalidas has appealed for Rs. 1.5 crore as damages from Arun Vijay failing which his Maanja Velu should not be released.

Maanja Velu release has been postponed to May 21

Arun Vijay’s ambitious film, the eagerly awaited Maanja Velu, which was scheduled to release on May 7, has now been postponed to May 21.

The delay is due to lack of theatres in Tamil Nadu, as April 30 will see the release of Sura and on May 7 Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam is releasing. At the same time Paiyaa is going strong. Added to that half a dozen other small films are releasing, creating acute theatre shortage.

Though Arun Vijay says: “ All the theatres that screened my earlier hit Malai Malai wanted to screen Maanja Velu, so on a request from them and for a wider release, we have pushed the release date to May 21.”

Man and his mission: Maanja Velu

It’s official now. ‘Maanja Velu’, the second film in the combination of Arun Vijay, director A Venkatesh and Feather Touch Entertainments, is all set to hit screens on May 7, as a ‘perfect summer treat to the movie-buffs’.
Thanks to the success of their previous venture ‘Malai Malai’, the trio has teamed up again for this movie, which too is a commercial entertainer and a remake of Telugu blockbuster ‘Lakshayam’.
Dhanshika of 'Peranmai' fame stars opposite Arun Vijay, while yesteryear top actor Karthik makes his comeback in a pivotal role with this flick. The film also features Prabhu, Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu and others in important characters.
Says the director, “the film is about an angry young man who performs some cruel acts. What made him to take the path of violence forms the crux of the story. Arun Vijay has given his best. The climax scene is going to be one of the highlights.”

Arun Vijay’s Maanja Velu release date

 Arun Vijay’s action packed masala entertainer Maanja Velu has been confirmed for release on May 7. It will be releasing in nearly 350 screens worldwide as there is a positive buzz about the film.
As per earlier plans Maanja Velu was due for April 14, but since the post production graphics work was not over the film got delayed.
Arun Vijay has done some real dare devil action scenes in the film. Please note one of the reasons why Arun’s earlier release Malai Malai worked big time was its action scenes. 
Yesteryear romantic hero Karthik is making a comeback of sorts with this movie, in an important role. The USP of the film will be its climax scenes, where Arun Vijay will appear bald. The music of Mani Sharma is already a hit.

Maanja Velu releases in this summer

Maanja Velu is all set to release as a summer treat! The movie stars Arun Vijay, Karthik, Prabhu, Dhansika, Vijayakumar and others. A press note from the Maanja Velu team states that 250 prints of the film have been made ready. The movie is directed A Venkatesh and produced by Feather Touch Entertainment.

The audio of this film, which was released last month, has got a good response and this has created an expectation for Maanja Velu. Arun Vijay is also looking forward to this movie’s release as he is still riding high on the success of Malai Malai.

Tansika while speaking the difference between Peranmai and Maanja Velu said,” I was one among the five heroines in Peranmai.

In Maanja Velu I am the only heroine. Apart from this the role in this film will bring out my acting talents. I have learnt silambattam, fencing and rifle shooting for the film Peranmai. In Maanja Velu also I have acted in action scenes.

Kanal Kannan has his name suggests have designed fiery stunt scenes. He made me to do stint scenes in the mid air by tying rope on me.

He has also shot the running scene featuring Arun Vijay and me. There is also a big jumping scene for me. Basically I am an athletic player. Because of this I am able to do these action scenes without much difficulty

The Manja Velu team of director A Venkatesh, Stunt master Kanal Kannan, producer Mohan and lead actors Arun Vijay, Karthik, Riaz Khan and heroine Dhansika held a media briefing at AVM studio where the shooting is going on.

The film which is a remake of the Gopichand action film Lakshyam from Telugu is almost 75 percent complete. Said Arun Vijay: “ It is shaping up well and we hope to create the magic of our last super hit Malai Malai”.
Karthik is making a comeback of sorts after five years to mainstream commercial cinema. Said the actor: “I am doing a small role in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan. When I got a call from Arun Vijay, to play his brother in the film, I was surprised. But now, we all are like one big family and most of the time, I don’t like to go home after pack-up. I am enjoying a warm welcome from my friends”.
Director A.Venkatesh added that technically the film is brilliant. Producer Dr Mohan announced that his third film will be titled Kavalthurai. Vijayakumar, father of Arun said that the 100 days function of Malai Malai will be held soon in a grand manner with Kamal Hassan being the chief guest.

Arun Vijay injured in shooting

After the hit of his ‘Malai Malai’ Arun Vijay was in full spirit to do the best. It is not only the next film for Arun Vijay, but also for the whole crew of ‘Malai Malai’. The climax fight scenes of the film were being canned in Ekkattuthangal Burma Colony Muneeswarar Temple, Chennai for last 5 days. A scene featuring 400 junior artists and 25 stunt artists was canned in a festival set that was erected around the temple.

A scene in which Arun Vijay kicking two fighters by jumping from a platform was being shot, for which both the fighters were tied on with a transparent nylon rope, to avoid accidents. Unexpectedly one of the nylon ropes got tangled with Arun Vijay’s right arm while he was performing the action. Arun Vijay’s elbow was badly injured due to the accident and the whole arm swell at once. Immediately the actor was offered first aid by the stunt master Kanal Kannan and was rushed to the hospital where he was offered emergency treatment. The doctors have advised 3 days rest to the actor and the scenes that do not involve the actor are being shot at present.

Directed by A.Venkatesh, ‘Maanja Velu’ is produced by Arun Vijay’s home banner Feather Touch Entertainment. Ilaya Thilagam Prabhu plays an important role, while Navarasa Nayagan Karthik plays Arun's brother.
