Most expected movie of this year 2011
A new year has brought a lots of new expectations in Kollywood. So here we take a look at some of the most anticipated films in Kollywood (in alphabetical order)!
7aum Arivu - After the blockbuster Ghajini, Suriya is teaming up with director Murugadoss again and Shruti Haasan is the heroine. Reportedly, the film is based on a circus artiste and Suriya plays the role of a trapeze artiste cum animal trainer. 7aum Arivu is a sci-fi thriller which will have two stories narrated in different eras; one dates back to 1,500 years.
Aadhi Bhagavan - Paruthiveeran director Ameer is back with his next directorial venture Aadhi Bhagavan, starring Jayam Ravi and Neetu Chandra in lead roles. The film also has Sudha Chandran, Karuna and Babu Antony in prominent roles.
Aadukalam - Dhanush-Vetrimaran are back with Aadukalam (meaning arena or playing field). Aadukalam, a contemporary, mainstream film set in Madurai, is about two generations and their ideologies. Tapasee plays an Anglo-Indian girl and Dhanush’s love interest. The film will grace theatres on January 14, 2011.
Avan Ivan - Bala and awards goes hand in hand! After winning a National Award for Naan Kadavu, Bala is currently busy with his full-fledged commercial film Avan Ivan starring Arya and Vishal in the lead roles. Janani Iyer and Madhu Shalini are the heroines.
Kaavalan - Finally Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s 51st film Kaavalan (Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit Bodyguard starring Dileep and Nayantara), is all set to rock the screens for Pongal. This masala entertainer with plenty of comedy and action brings Asin back to Kollywood after a short gap.
Mankatha - Thala Ajith's 50th film Mankatha is progressing briskly in Chennai. The film, which is an action thriller, also has a huge star cast which includes Arjun, Trisha, Sneha, Premgi, Vaibhav, Lakshmi Rai, Ashwin and Ganesh Venkatraman. The film is expected to grace theatres on May 1, 2011 (Ajith's birthday).
Siruthai - Karthi-Tamannaah starrer Siruthai will hit screens on January 14. Siruthai is the remake of Telugu hit Vikramakudu starring Ravi Teja and Anushka. For the first time Karthi will play a dual role (a police and a thief) in the film.
Vaanam - Vaanam is the remake of critically acclaimed Telugu film Vedam and Simbu will don the role of Cable Raju (originally played by Allu Arjun) in the Tamil version. Anushka reprises her role from the original. The film also has Sneha Ullal, Bharath and Vega in prominent roles.
Velayudham - Vijay's 51st film Velayudham is expected to be a summer treat. The film is directed by Jayam Raja and Vijay Anthony is the music composer. Genelia D'Souza will play the role of a journalist, while Hansika Motwani will be a village belle in the film. Santhanam and Sathyan take care of the humour element.
Vikram's next - Vikram is currently busy with Madarasapattinam Vijay's next film with two heroines: Amala Paul and Anushka (who plays the role of a lawyer). The film is reportedly inspired by critically-acclaimed Hollywood flick I am Sam and Vikram plays the role of a man with developmental disabilities.
