Most successful hero of the year is Karthi

Karthi Sivakumar, the rough and tough hero of Paruthi Veeran, had an successful 2010. Karthi had three releases this year—Aayirathil Oruvan, Paiyya and Naan Mahaan Alla—and all of them turned out to be hits. Looks like the actor is on a dream run and could not have asked for anything better.

In 2011, the actor will be seen in an out-and-out masala entertainer with Siruthai (releasing on January 14). He plays two different characters: a cop and a thief in this formula film targeting the mass audiences. Siruthai is a remake of Vikramarkudu, but director Siva has reworked the film to suit the taste of our audiences. According to the director, the film is not a scene-by-scene remake; a lot has been changed in the first half.

Actress Anushka Sharma- "I don't add any frills around me"

Anushka Sharma has now notched up her third straight success in a row with 'Band Baaja Baaraat' doing quite well at the box office. Before that, she has enjoyed some great times with 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' (Superhit) and 'Badmaash Company (Semi hit). Nevertheless, doesn't this girl from Bangalore feel disheartened that despite enjoying a cent percent record so far, she is yet to get her due?
"I am sure things will fall in place sooner or later," smiles Anushka who would next be seen in 'Patiala House' opposite Akshay Kumar, "If your work is not good and you are known only for your public appearances, your market value will eventually die it's natural death. This is the reason why I don't add any frills around me."
She is hopeful though that things would change for better in due course of time.
"I would get the kind of respect and appreciation that I deserve in the industry. Let my body of work reach out to people," she says with her chin up, "I have immense confidence in myself. Eventually I think that if your work is good then people will sit up and notice that. There would be a wow factor that come in by itself."
Well, one hopes so for sure Anushka with 'Patiala House' all set to hit the screens on 11th February.

Is Krish stole Anushka's heart?

A lot is being buzzed after Anushka confessed recently that she is in love and would enter wedlock with the man of her choice in a couple of years. She also said everyone would be in for a surprise when she reveals 'his' name.

If Tollywood sources are to be believed, the man who stole the heart of the 'Stole my heart....' girl is Krish, the director of the multistarrer 'Vaanam', which has Anushka playing an important role.

"The rapport between Anushka and Krish that started during the making of Vaanam's Telugu original ‘Vedam’ slowly developed into love. Krish was the main reason behind the actress agreeing to be part of the Tamil version," sources say.

However, Krish, like any other celebrity in this part of the world, has denied any affair between him and Anushka. "She is close to me and I would call her amma," the filmmaker reportedly said.

Veppam movie audio has been launched

Gautham Menon's Photon Kathaas is back with their next production venture titled Veppam, written and directed by Anjana. Music composed by Joshua Sridhar of Kadhal fame was released in Chennai today. Om Prakash handles the camera while Vijay Anthony is the editor. Reportedly Veppam is set in a realistic milieu and its tone is raw and earthy. This intense, hard-hitting film is about life in the slums of Chennai.

Nayantara and Prabhu Deva has paid Ramlath a bundled cost of Rs 25 crores

Prabhu Deva and his wife Ramlath has come to a mutual agreement on December 28th 2010 with their filed divorce case in civil court. Prabhu Deva has agreed to give his seas side house at Injambakkam on ECR, the Bungalow in Anna Nagar, Three flats, high bidding property in Hyderabad and of course his two cars. Including a one time payment of Rs 10 lakhs for his son’s education and medical expenses.

Sources say that since Prabhu Deva is in financial crises actress Nayantara lent Prabhu Deva 10 crores to purchase a property in Hyderabad and three flats in Chennai.

Nayantara and Prabhu Deva are paying Ramlath a bundled cost of Rs 25 crores and this shows that Nayatara is gearing up to pay any price to get married to Prabhu Deva.

The audio of Siruthai will be available in all music stores from today (December 30th, 2010). According to reports, no audio launch event has been planned by the makers of Siruthai and they have instead decided to just let the music into the market.

Siruthai’s audio rights have been procured by Venus and the music has been scored by Vidyasagar.

Nadunisi Naigal to dubed in Telugu as Erra Gulabeelu

Director Gautham Menon has announced that Nadunisi Naigal, which is slated for release on January 26th, 2011, will be released in Telugu under the title Erra Gulabeelu. The Telugu title literally means Sigappu Rojakkal and this led to the guesswork that the film is inspired by the yesteryear hit of the same name in which Kamal Haasan and Sri Devi played the lead roles.

Gautham organized a press meet in Hyderabad recently to announce the Telugu version of NN and this meet was attended by Sameera Reddy, Veera Bahu, Gautham Menon, Telugu actor Srikanth, and filmmaker Rama Naidu. NN is directed by Gautham Menon and stars debutant Veera and Sameera Reddy.

The trailer of this film is expected to be released during the audio launch of Veppam, a production venture of Gautham.

Kamal daughter Shruthi Haasan to Pair up with Abhishek Bachchan

Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruthi Haasan is likely to pair up with Abhishek Bachchan which will be directed by sensational bollywood director Balki. After the success of Cheeni Kum and Paa, Balki is all set to direct a romantic musical entertainer.

It is learnt that Balki is planning to make this film with nominal budget of 10 crores and considering Shruti Haasan for lead female role. Interestingly, Balki has earlier planned to work with Amitabh Bachchan for this film, but after watching Abhishek’ s performance in Paa and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, he decided to select him. Abhishek Bachchan may produce the film under the banner of ABCL Corporation.

Since everybody knows Tamil at the shooting spot, they will immediately correct me if I make a wrong pronunciation. Now there is a small gap after the schedule. I will learn Tamil fully before the next schedule commences. Recently I had danced for a song in a function held at Dubai.

After this I went to meet my fans. All of them surrounded me. I was very scared and was wondering that they will ask for my autograph. Adah Sharma's jewellery ads win prestigious Pepper Award

Adah Sharma is one girl who is on Cloud Nine these days, and she has every reason. On one hand, she has been signed with Madhavan for yet another year as the brand ambassador for the jewellery major Joyalukkas. On the other, the three commercials of the said brand won the Pepper Award, considered one of the most prestigious awards in the field of advertising.

Speaking exclusively to us, Adah said, "I am feeling on top of the world. We will be doing four more commercials for 2011 that will have different concepts from our current ones." Speaking about the commercials, she added, "The commercials are doing very well in Dubai and the Middle East, and are playing on repeat on all the southern airports. I just couldn't have asked for a better New Year gift."

Not just that, the said brand also unveiled a wax statue of Madhavan which will be kept at the Chennai showroom. The forthcoming ads will be directed yet again by Shibu Anthikad, one of the most sought-after directors for commercials in the South.

Kaavalan releases only in 70 theatres

Kaavalan which has Vijay and Asin in the lead roles is to be released for Pongal. But only 70 theatres are available for the screening of this film and that also, these theatres are ordinary ones.

Kaavalan is a film which has Vijay and Asin in the lead roles and is directed by Siddique. Right from beginning this film has been facing lots of obstacles and problems. Now this film was supposed to be released on 17th of this month.

But since there was dearth in the theatres, this release was postponed to Pongal. But now also this film is not getting theatres. The reason for this is the theatre owners. The Theatre Owners are claiming compensation from Vijay since some of his recent films did not do well at the box office. But Vijay said that he is not responsible and so there is no question of compensation. Now the theatre owners are refusing to screen Vijay’s films.

In between Shakthi Chidambaram intervened in this matter and acquired the rights and has planned to release in 400 theatres in Tamil Nadu. But so far he was able to get only 70 theatres and that also these theatres are ordinary. Because of this Kaavalan is still in trouble at a time when Siruthai and Ilaignyan have got most of the theatres.

Jeeva has done both hero and villain role in Singam Puli

S Parthi and S S Vasan are producing a film titled Singam Puli under the banner Silver Line Film Factory. Sai Ramani is directing this film which has Jeeva in dual roles. Divya Spandana and Honey Rose are the heroines of this film.

Santhanam will take care of the comedy. Mani Sharma is composing the music for the lyrics penned by Na Muthukumar, Vivega, Sai Ramani and Annamalai. Jeeva is the hero and also the villain in this film.

One will speak normal Tamil while the other will speak Madras Tamil. But when asked the director which one among these is the hero and villain, he said that is the suspense of the screenplay.

Lawrence who is directing the film Kanchana said,” The story of the film Kanchana has been fully changed since Anushka is out of the film. Latchmi Rai is now doing the heroine role now.

Many are asking that who is going to the role which Anushka was supposed to do. Now there is no such character in this film. But now I have included a new character which will be a highlight in this film.

I will make an announcement regarding this. In between I am also directing a Telugu film which has Prabhas and Anushka in the lead roles. The shooting of this film will commence on 2nd January.

This film is a commercial film with action backdrop. I am not acting in this film. I am only directing this film. I have already directed three Telugu films Mass, Dona and Style.

I will also be doing the lead role in the Tamil film to be directed by Rasu Madhuravan. The shooting of this film will commence in January.”

Vaanam movie release date

The film Vaanam which has Simbhu and Anushka in the lead roles is to be released on 3rd February. Vaanam is the film in which Simbhu is acting after his super hit film Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya.

Anushka, Bharath, Sneha Ullal, Sonia Agarwal, Vega and Prakash Raj are also sharing the screen with Simbhu in this film. Krish is directing this film. The shooting of this film is in the final stages.

The film was expected to hit the screens on Pongal day. But the producer Ganesh has planned to the release the audio in the month of January and release the film in the month of February. It was also decided to release the film on February 14th.

But now there is also a change in this release date. The film is to be released on 3rd February. 3rd February also happens to be the birthday of Simbhu. The producer has planned to release this film on the occasion of Simbhu’s birthday.

A CD containing a single song sung by Simbhu and Yuvan Shankar Raja was earlier released. Now the audio CD of all the songs of this film is to be launched during the month of January.

Actress Sameera Reddy to enter wed lock

Nadunisi Naaygal movie expected to hit screens in January 2011

Ace director Gautham Menon's upcoming quickie thriller Nadunisi Naaygal (midnight dogs) is expected to hit screens in January 2011!

The director has recently wrapped up the last schedule of Nadunisi Naaygal and the post production work is on. Starring Sameera Reddy and Gautham's assistant Veera in the lead roles, the film narrates a series of events happening in a night and its duration will be 90 minutes. Interestingly, Nadunisi Naaygal has no songs. In fact, this movie does not even have a background score! There are also reports that Nadunisi Naaygal is inspired from Bharathiraja's yesteryear hit Sigappu Rojakkal, which had Kamal Haasan and Sridevi in the lead roles.

'Tees Maar Khan' starts off on a fantastic note! For previews held on 21st, 22nd and 23rd December in just select cities in UK have grossed over Rs 75 lakhs, making the movie the third highest paid previews grosser for an Indian film ever in UK! This is despite extreme cold weather conditions in UK.

The movie is a co-production by Three’s Company, Hari Om Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures.

The film took a flying start at the USA box office, grossing over Rs 40 lakhs on 100 sites on Wednesday alone.

In India market, 'Tees Maar Khan' saw a fantastic response with 100% opening at most of the multiplexes across. Multiplexes and single screens across cities which include Chandigarh, Pune, Patna, Lucknow, Bangalore, Ranchi saw a 100% occupancy for all morning shows and will continue to see the same throughout the day for all shows.
