Vijayakanth has done the role of king

Viruthagiri is a film which has Vijayakanth in the lead role. This is the first film that Vijayakanth is directing. Madhuri Deepak is debuting as heroine in this film. Arun Pandian and Mansoor Ali Khan are also in the cast.

It was decided to shoot a sequence of this film at Viruthigiswar Temple at Virudhachalam where Vijayakanth won the assembly elections. As decided the sequence was shot in and around the temple. In the song sequence, Vijayakanth donned the role of king.

Vijayakanth fans and local people gathered in large numbers to witness the shooting. Many police personnel were pressed into service for security purposes. The shooting was completed at 2 pm. Vijayakanth along with his crew left the place. Vijayakanth who came along with his wife to Virudhachalam was welcomed by DMDK members.
