Vijayalakshmi's sister Sowmya debut in Gnani

Sowmya, the younger sister of Vijayalakshmi (of ‘Chennai 28’ and ‘Anjathey’ fame) and daughter of filmmaker Agathiyan, is all set to don the greasepaint. She will play the leading lady in a movie titled ‘Gnani’.

Directed by Aarthi Kumar and produced by Subashini Productions, ‘Gnani’ will have 14 directors playing pivotal roles. They include Tharun Gopi, Saravana Subbaiah, Prabhu Solomon, S S Stanley, KR and Ravi Mariya.

According to circles close to the unit, Sowmya will play Stanley’s daughter, who falls in love with Tharun Gopi. “She plays the role of a village girl who is so innocent. How her love affair changes her is the crux of the story,” sources add.

Scenes on Sowmya will be shot in Chennai from April 9. Says the film’s director, “Gnani will be a film so close to reality. It will come out with a message for the society, besides satisfying the expectations of the film-buffs.”
