Jeevan speaks about Naan Avan Illai-2

Actor Jeevan is back after a long gap, with Naan Avan Illai 2 , directed by Selva. A sequel to the older hit film in which he played hero opposite five girls, in the this film too Jeevan plays a similar character but with a twist in the end. We catch up with him to find out more about his role, his films and the way his career is going.
Are you happy with the response to Naan Avan Illai-2?
Yes immensely happy. I have been speaking to all the distributors down south and along with the exhibitors they have all told me only one thing, ‘sir we are more than happy with the response to your film.’ People are enjoying it in the theatres and clapping at the comic scenes. The film is visually appealing and is a light entertainer.
Did you have any qualms playing a guy who cons women?
Not really. The hero only cons women who have cheated on others or use people to their advantage. There is a subtle message in the film for women to be careful of such men in real life. We have done it without being preachy.
Your film has released after a long gap. Don’t you think that the strategy is risky?
Yes, it’s true that Thotta was my last release in 2008. I want to do at least three films in a year but it just don’t happe the way you plan. Sometimes things don’t work the way, you want to due to reasons beyond your control.
What other films do you have on hand?
I have Krishna Leelai ready for release opposite Meghna, a new girl from Karnataka. It’s a Kavithalaya production and should release soon.
What sort of films do you want to do in future? Any plans of doing the realistic cinema that’s the rage now?
I want to do films where the producer, distributor and exhibitor and audience get their money’s worth. I want to do cinema which entertains.
With the competition heating up, do you have a plan of action for the future?
I don’t really plan my career. I feel you get what you deserve and not what you desire. The competition doesn’t worry me even an iota.
