Director Thirumalai speaks to media

Director Thirumalai who directed Thee Nagar and Agam Puram while speaking to the media said,” I came to cinema with the intention of directing a big budgeted film. But unfortunately I was not able to do so in my first film.

In my next film my responsibility grew up because apart from being the director I was also the producer. When I readied the story for my third film, it was not satisfactory. The producers advised me not to take the risk and asked me to direct a remake film which was hit in another language. So I decided to remake the super hit Telugu film Blade Babuji. I have titled this film in Tamil as Kasedhaan Kadavulada. I had to select 27 known faces. They include Pandiarajan, Karunaas, Nalini, Pandu, Manobala and Sathyan.

Saran who did the villain role in Agam Puram is doing the lead role. But there was confusion while choosing the heroine for this film. Actresses who become popular try to show off. I asked some leading actresses but they refused by saying that they did not have the call sheet.

Kamna who had acted in Macchakaaran is currently acting in Telugu films. She is in Mumbai. When I contacted her over phone, she asked me to come in person.

When I went to her house, she was at the doorsteps to welcome me. She agreed to do the heroine role when she heard the story. She never spoke about her salary. She came directly to the shooting. Other actresses should learn from her.”
