Roland Emmerich “end of the world disaster epic” 2012, which had a day and date release in Tamil Nadu with the rest of the world, has taken a super opening.
As per trade reports 2012 and its Tamil version Rudram has taken an incredible 100 percent opening in 12 screens in Chennai city, a new city record for an English film dubbed into Tamil.
The Tamil Film Producers Council chief Ramanarayanan’s Sri Thenandal Films are the distributors of the film in the state. The film had a wide release in Tamil Nadu where it opened in 110 screens and the report across the state is “very good”.
Critics may have panned the film for its massy disaster scenes and its length -2 hours 38 minutes. But in TN, the effects laden film is a treat for the audiences who love such films.
2012, which has opened like a Tamil superstar film 2012,, may eventually turn out to be one of the all time big Hollywood hits in the state.
